I think your over valuing Savard. Id rather have Montour play on his natural side then have Savard

But then the left side would be weaker.

McCabe is unnecessary cap for the Stars. Between Heiskanen, Lindell, Oleksiak, Sekera, Hanley, Harley, etc. they don't really NEED another LD, and given how close they are to the cap I don't see them adding McCabe's $2.85M cap hit (unless they make other moves, which is very plausible).

Even if this were fair value (which it isn't, but that's besides the point), Columbus has already traded significant pieces of our defensive depth away. We can't move Savard without the return being a slam dunk win... which this isn't.

You guys traded Murray and Nutivaara for an ECHLer and a 2021 5th round pick...

You don't have to tell me, I'm pissed enough about it. Which is why we can't trade Savard now.

But why? Why did Jarmo do it?

To hear him tell it, it was to clear out all that salary to warn away any GMs thinking of an offer sheet for Dubois. I imagine that we wouldn't have gotten much for them in hockey trades. (Still big mad we traded Nuti for that ECHL player, rather than trading Riley Nash.)
