Why do either trades. It doesn't help us nor will it help us in the future. Bad proposals

Hawks decline both. Could get quite a bit more for both players but I doesn't really matter. Kane and Toews will retire as hawks

Toews expressed some surprise at the team letting Crawford and Saad go, but said he does expect to stay and win in Chicago.

“Bottom line is, I want to win,” Toews told The Athletic on Saturday night. “The expectation for the other leaders on this team and myself is to come ready to training camp every year to be a playoff team. We prepare ourselves to win a Cup for our fans. I’ve never been told that we were going through a rebuild. That has never been communicated to me, for that matter. A lot of this comes as a shock because it’s a completely different direction than we expected.”

“I haven’t been a part of that conversation,” he said. “This has all happened pretty suddenly, but the answer is no. Chicago’s my home, and I want to win here again.”

So I think even if the Hawks took these trades, Toews and Kane would only consider being traded to a contender.

You just proved my point about toews not going anywhere. Just read the last sentence. "Chicago is my home and I want to win here again". He's not going anywhere

That's what I thought the first time I read it. I focused on the "here." Then I re-read it and focused on the "I want to win."

After they let their goalie walk and traded a 30 goal wing for a hard-hitting bottom four defenseman? You could read, "I want to win" either way. The bigger question isn't what Toews and Kane want, but what management wants, and if mangement wants to trade them, what kinds of trades they'll settle for.

If bowman has any thoughts of trading them he'll be fired. He knows this. I think it's the reason he keeps losing trades. He knows he can't just stick with the team he has but he also can't trade anyone with real value cus the veterans on the team will get upset.

Someone asked me if Reirden would pull Holtby in this Spring's playoffs. I said, "no. If he puts in a rookie and they lose, the coach will lose his job." That went well...

I'm not sure Chicago's been losing trades, even. They're just getting younger, and that has some costs.
