From an armchair GM post, how do fans feel about Marner's trade value??

It depends on what protections are put on the 1st

I would think it’s standard to make a 1st round pick lottery protected, but that’s only good for 1 year, then it losses it’s lottery protection.

If value is the only question and we're not talking about something like "they just signed Dadonov, they wouldn't just ship him out" or "not trading Marner in division" This is the right amount of pieces just in a weird way.

The prospect should be better.
The pick should be worse. (like a 1st from a slightly better team)
And the roster player should be a defensemen.

Also possibly Tor would have to take extra cap back short term.

My version of this if we're doing exactly three pieces like this would be.

Maxime Comtois
2022 1st
Josh Manson

But I would have done a different deal anyway. Bigger, with Ltir, etc.

The leafs would not do this trade in a million years. Prolly the worst trade I've see for Marner as Dadonov only had 47 points last year and they only get a lottery protected first while Marner is an all star and is more than a ppg player. This would be stupid for the leafs.

not only is this an AWFUL deal for Leafs, I don't know if the Sens could financially afford a player that highly paid

I was really hoping for more (knowledgeable) TML fan opinions. The two TML responses so far have nonsensical comments, and can't be taken seriously.

I appreciate the non Sens/TML fan commenting, but that's just 1 comment, unfortunately.

This was just to gauge value, and not a serious trade scenario, since Marner fits better with the shooting centres Toronto has, and Dadonov fits better with the playmaking centres Ottawa has.

There's no ego attached to this, you're not going to hurt my feelings if you agree or disagree, although I might have counter points to any point you make, it's all just a discussion.
