the 3 team trade is pretty fair IMHO.
the Laine deal not so much bc any Laine to PIT deal starts with Marino prob. they would ask for marino + rust + mid level prospect or pick is my best guess. it's not worth it for me.

Obviously the Jets wouldn't consider Laine for that, but if you retained on Zucker to make the salaries even and threw in a first the Jets may do Perreault.

I get that Laine is worth a lot but ur dealing from a position of weakness bc all teams know that both the player & Team want to part ways.

Getting a 1st line wing that can play either side for less money, a 1st Rd LHD Prospect that is NHL ready, & a 2nd or 3rd Rd pick
For a younger / more expensive Laine who couldn't get into ur Top 6 is a good deal IMO.

Unless WPG is shooting to just get back Picks & prospects to Rebuild?

No he is from Pittsburgh, PA, I watched him play when he was young here and is a Big Sid & Penguins fan. He prob is a Yankees fan bc Pittsburghs Baseball team is a minor league team, lol

Odd, usually the local writers make note of a Pittsburgh product (Saad, Trocheck, even Riley Barber), but I’ve not read anyone write about Dugan. Did he move to the Rochester area when he was young?

You're labouring under a common misconception, the Jets aren't dealing from a position of weakness as they have no need to trade Laine. They own his rights for 3 more season seasons, so Laine won't move unless Chevy gets what he wants.

Now, if you were offering the things you were saying, it might be decent value. But you're not offering a 1W you're offering Zucker, a 3rd line winger at best and one that is trending down and Joseph is a meh LD prospect which the Jets have zero need for. We both know you're fantasizing that a lowball offer will work, but unfortunately in reality it won't.

They get a NHL player & a 2nd Rd Prospect for just retaining $1.75?

Yep. The Kings are looking at their young players and seeing who they want to protect in next years expansion draft. Retaining 1.75 million is huge in the current environment. Why help out an opponent without getting something back in value other than a 3rd/4th line fringe player and a pick that would be fighting to play on your AHL team due to the number of players you already have fighting for a spot?

I agree that Marino should be signed long term but w/ the Cap staying flat next yr too, a bridge deal could help us out a lot.

But I was also screaming to sign Marino to a 8yr Deal half way through the season last yr, lol.
      The kid is soo good.

the cap is flat, but I don't think that's the biggest issue for them. If this team isn't looking good, which given it's current structure .... they will realize the cap opens up after next year. Letang is gone, Malkin back making less add in a new tv deal. Cap opens up. So I see a long term deal done next year. Now they might do a Pettersson move, sign this and we'll hit you up mid season....but I see a long term deal done. This team just doesn't seem to have interest in going out and really bringing anyone in. They could have this year. But we got bottom of the barrel. I don't see that changing. So the cap shouldn't be an issue.
