A team I a rebuild does not trade high picks for players that improve the team in the long run.

Are you kidding Dubas would make that trade in a heartbeat, But Yzerman would easily turn it down. Because Kerfoot isn't worth a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Dubas doesn't move Kerfoot. Doing so weakens their already weakest part of the organization - centre depth. Kerfoot stays. All they need to do is move Holl for whatever and they're fine. If they want a bit more room than move Engvall or send him down. Leafs can't afford to lose a centre unless a team severely overpays

stop dumping kerfoot just so you can overpay depth guys and carry extra roster forwards. Kerfoot is valuable, he's a good 3C, plays wing, decent defensively, has a scoring touch, is a good penalty killer etc.

He certainly isn't worth more to the red wings but he is worth more to the Leafs. He should not be traded without another 3c option under 37. So in other words it's an overpay by Detroit who would have no interest anyway, but also isn't a trade the Leafs should accept anyway

Dubas wouldn't because it makes the Leafs worse. He's an important piece.

Those fans are dumb on both ends.

They are convinced that they're replacing him with a 35 year old Thornton. They're not. Centre depth is essential.

They're also dumb on Detroit's needs or interests. While Detroit is a rebuilding team you guys clesrly only are interested in acquiring by trade high end pieces or dumps with sweeteners attached. Detroit has made zero trades of mid picks for mid players. So you are accurate. It's silly
