Jets more than likely say no.
Avs definitely do. Not many teams could offer anything legit for Makar.

2 years of Gaudreau for Makar for the next 6+ years? Easiest of passes.

Gaudreau is a UFA-2 for crying out loud my dude

Makar at sub 900k for both those years and then team controlled for half a decade on top of being like one of 5 virtually untouchable assets in the league

Makar almost outscored Gaudreau this season lol!

laugh laugh Johnny Gaudreau+David Rittich for Cale Makar get real here dude, Gaudreau walks in 2 years to Philly or New Jersey. Colorado has Grubauer and Francouz so why in the hell would they want Rittich? Monahan alone doesn't get you Patrik Laine maybe add one of Hanifin or Kylington to the deal at least. Both Colorado and Winnipeg laugh and block Trelivings number.

Why are you sorry to Jets fans? Trading Monahan for Laine would be absolutely awful for the Flames. You don't create a hole at center the size of the grand canyon for a player with as many red flags as Laine.

It would be awful but that doesnt make it fair value. Laine is by all accounts worth more than Monahan

I really don't think he is. middle tier #1Cs are worth more than middle tier #1Ws because #1Cs are so much harder to acquire.

i don't disagree with that statement but I also think Laine is one of the best goal scorers in the league

Think of it this way, would you trade Tkachuk away to get Monahan?

I really don't think that is a apt comparison, Laine provides offense, but is terrible defensively, softer than baby **** and doesn't put the team first. Tkachuk is just as good offensively, plays good defense, is not soft to play against, is a great leader and team player. Laine is more like a soft Evander Kane, and no I wouldn't make that trade.

But this is also a bad description of Laine, he is not bad defensively ad was actually quite good this year. He is also not exactly soft either. However I do agree he doesn't put the team first. There is a reason Laine went before Tkachuk in the draft and there is still a good argument that he still would. Simply put, in a vacuum Monahan does not return Laine

You might not agree with the description, but the comparison is bang on. Laine is no better defensively than Kane and is significantly softer, so that comparison is quite apt; but people seem to think he is the second coming of Ovechkin for some unknown reason.

Not sure why you are bringing up draft position, I know you are smarter than thinking draft position means anything after it happens.

The only reason Monahain might not return Laine is because Laine is the most overhyped player in the NHL by a country mile. So many delusional dimwits still have the Ovechkin comparison in their heads, when he's more like a cross between Skinner and Evander
