Trades what trades

Description
Technically possible. Dumb because we lose a bunch of roster vets and Barzal and Pulock take unrealistically teamp friendly deals.

But something to think about. Say the Isles find a way to move a smaller contract for lesser picks. Then that 3-3.5 mil in cap soace is enough to guve Barzal a good enough offer to accept.

This is close to the perfect lineup IMO . Aho PP1, dobson + pulock PP2

And this is just the day one roster. I’d expect Barzy to have Beau and Wahlstrom as his linemates and Aho as Dobson’s partner by the end of the year, and Sorokin as the starter.

Another benefit of all this is the Isles keep their picks from the Toews trade. So if a cheap enough option becomes available by next TDL, Lou has ammunition. Maybe we swap Varlamov and a pick for a backup and another scoring forward?

Aho-dobson would be a lot of fun. You think trotz will finally give Aho a shot this season? He’s going to be 25 soon, I would think they want to see what they have in him. FCS The guy has made the AHL all star game 3 years in a row, what more does he have to do lol

I think lou would move varlamov if sorokin exceeds expectations .

My fear is that Lou doesn’t see Aho as a fit for the system and will try to move him instead of giving him a shot. But there’s no denying the kid’s ready and I’d love to see him and Dobson as a pairing. But for the first half of the season, Greene stays with Dobson.

As for Sorokin, with the defensive system in front of him, the Isles could be scary good. Varly has a high cap hit and is hot off a phenomenal playoff performance. If Varly’s our 1b by the TDL and there’s a team that’s willing to swap him and picks for a backup and a forward, I’d think Lou does it.

I guess there’s a chance Aho is moved as a throw in, but he has a lot more value to the isles than in a trade, especially with his cap hit and maturity. The isles kind of tanked his value by not giving him a shot the last two years.

Aho is solid defensively and he’s the same height as Greene so I don’t see why they wouldn’t think he fits the system lol - but I get what you mean.

There’s a reason why I want to hold on to bode wilde - lou has been drafting + signing college free agent defenseman who are big and skate well but have limited offensive upside
