If they knew they’d have the top pick he would’ve been gone. Might have to learn to play the right side or he’s going to be a really expensive third liner

I’d rather pay Strome 4M then bring in haula for 3M, at least he has chemistry on that 2nd line. Chytil isn’t ready for 2C. For the time being Kreider/Chytil/Gauthier is a pretty nice 3rd line. But ya, in 4 years time the MNTC is going to open up and Kreids is gone

He’s a pretty unique player but needs to use his body more and punish guys on the forecheck. Could’ve had a deadline haul for him and picked up a center in the first round

I would've done it even without Laf. His contract blows.

Gone back and forth on Strome. Figured one year would be around 5 million after arbitration. Try to sell him at the deadline. Liked chemistry of kakko and chytil but I agree might be a stretch for 2C. I think Laf would be served better with a veteran C if he’s on the third line though

Strome won’t get 5M in arbitration. I think they agree to 4.5 or less before hand. 2 years. And Lemieux is 1.25-1.5m 2yrs. But I like AA for a 3rd/4th liner at that price

Kreider making $6.5M on the third line is quite a wrench in the plans my guy.

We have cap space for the next 2-3 years, that should be enough

We do have smith, hanks buyout reducing and Shattenkirks buyout reducing. Igor will need a raise but most of the other guys won’t get much. Mika and Fox need one in two years which is where Kreider and Trouba deals will look rough. Also have entry level bonuses to deal with next year

Unless Fil has a big year this season I think he’ll get a modest bridge and same with Lindgren. Buch going to want to be paid like a top line winger if he keeps playing there. He might end up being the odd man out on the right side with Kakko, Gauthier and Kravtsov

Depends on the return. They desperately need his size and net front presence. Too many soft, skilled wingers.
[eventual] 3rd line minutes, with 1PP time will be great for his long-term health. Maybe he'll be healthy for a playoff run, for once.

Move him to RW, you have the same issue with Kakko, Kravtsov and Buchnevich.

it ok to have an expensive 3rd liner when u have a bunch of others playing entry level. and powerhouse 3rd line is a nice way for rangers to get some mismatches and turn into a contender.

Would suck to pay him that much to be 3rd line but we will be deep to roll three lines if they other guys develop. See Buch moving after his contract is up with a bright future down the right side if Kravtsov and Gauthier go next level. Don’t want to move Kreider right side and have Gauthier buried on 4th line all year

his contract will be fine if he's healthy and his numbers font sink into the 30s.
They have a lot of ELCs, plus Lundqvist, Smith, Staal + buyouts coming off the cap.
As long as they don't give out more bad contracts, it shouldn't be an issue.
