Dobson becomes 1 Dman then Pulock for Laine

Description
Lets say Dobson becomes a number 1 Dman at the end of the year ( don't think he will) do you then trade Pulock for Laine at the 2021 Draft next year. Does this makes the isles a contender. We know Lou wants a player like Laine to go with Barzal, Laine is unsatisfied with WPG. any thoughts?

That goaltending is looking a little thin
also, a 2nd for uncle Leo? come on
and you give Laine 9.5 but Barzal settles for 7.5?

I'm perfectly fine with Laine staying in the west.

Pulock alone isn't getting you Laine, 29 other teams can beat that offer.

    Woof, this is a lot.

    1) DET is fair
    2) Komarov for a 2nd? Are the Devils high?
    3) Pulock for Laine is close but small add needs to come from NYI.
    4) Not trading Varlamov. Not yet anyway.
    5) We don't need to give up those picks for a team to take Bailey. They'll happily take him for free.

Yzerman as stated the wants to be flexible when it comes to the cap. Taking on Boychuk and his 6 million dollar cap hit takes the possibility away. Sorry but I thing Stevie is done taking on bad contracts until the deadline and even then it will be 1 year deals only.

My thought is that it takes more than a rookie year for a defenseman to establish himself sufficiently that you would part with Pulock -- which to me would be a bad decision even if Dobson turns out to be a #1 RD.

Barzal signs a team friendly 3 year deal similar to Point. His next contract will be the BIG one. $10M x 8y

Maybe, but if Im a young RFA with his talent Im signing a big deal now that gets me to UFA status faster ala Austin Mathews, then signing an even bigger deal after that.
I think the situation is similar to Point in Tampa, but there's always that no tax FLA stuff that makes it easier down there

That is why 3 years for 7.5 million is fair on a bridge deal it is more than point's 6.75 and compensate for the income tax of New York. In three years you have Boychuck, Leddy, Hickey, Clutterbuck and Cizikas coming off the books. Barzal will have his big contract then.

That makes total sense, but he's also doing them a huge favor. Good get your money Barzal
