If Danault becomes available at some point this coming season, that would be a very interesting trade target for VGK.

Minnesota agrees, I would assume you'll target Bonino though given his playoff record, being a natural C, and being slightly cheaper. Either way that's a good trade for both sides.

As a rental or do you think they could extend him?

I'd be very interested in Danault. I'm not sure what his price would be for an extension, but I think Vegas could afford 5-6 million AAV.

Depending on who VGK is prepared to lose to SEA (big $$ vs. small $$ contract) or if they are willing to buyout Fleury in his last year, I could see them extending him.

VGK is exempt from the expansion draft so they won't lose anyone to Seattle. I'm hoping they trade Fleury at the deadline to a team desperate for a goalie. Even buying him out in his last year isn't horrible.

Ah totally forgot that! You're right, so that would make it even tough for VGK to find some space for a likely $5m+ contract for Danault. Maybe that would force him into rental territory if VGK ever did trade for him.

Let's say a team like Colorado, Boston, or some surprise team has their goalie go down for the season. It could be at any point in the season before the deadline. Are they confident enough in their backup to win them the cup? Maybe, but you can bet they'll at least entertain the idea of bringing a goalie in. And they can get Fleury for pretty cheap. A 4th to keep your Stanley Cup hopes alive I think is fair. I even think Vegas would be willing to accept a 5th or 6th for that trade.

One year left? Absolutely. Two years left? Not a chance.
