How? I'm curious to see your reasoning because this is easily a playoffs team in my book.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of OEL + Martinez + Deangelo -- but I like Ekholm and think Fleury + Stecher could be a fine 3rd pair. Ullmark does not provide me with any real confidence, and neither does Holtby anymore. I like their center depth, but none of them are particularly offensive guys (Bergeron does put up a lot of points now, but that's because he's sandwiched between 90+ point players in Marchand and Pastrnak. The wing depth is fine, but nothing crazy. I'd say that this team makes it to the 2nd round max.

You have a questionable goaltending tandem. Forward group is lacking star power, very average. Defense is subject. Ekholm is great, Ekman-Larsson had a bad year last year, Martinez is an average top 4 at best. Deangelo in the 2nd pairing role is fine. that 3rd pair could be okay could be very bad, you have two small offensive young guys playing together. It's just not a great team. Like I said, 98 pts and maybe a playoff round 1. This squad never wins a cup.

Also, I said playoff team. But not a lock by any means.

Bang on. Said it better than I did.
