I believe the price to florida was around boldy not dumba. Boldy was 'Fenton's boy' when he ran the board. So I think they were seeing if Fenton had enough sway to go after boldy, like he did pushing the wild for Fiala

That’s interesting if true, where’d you see that?

If you have The Athletic, it was in Michael Russo’s most recent mailbag. About halfway down the page.

Russo couldn’t give a definitive answer on which prospect it was, but we can all do the math. And I think @Lightman13 is correct.

How is the package I put together a rental package? It is good value for the Panthers.

im 100% sure that if Barkov is down for an extension, they panthers will ask for more. furthermore, other teams can offer much more if minny isn't willing to pay up. Ottawa and Detroit come to mind

Barkov holds all the cards as he is UFA when his current deal expires. The Panthers have done nothing since they drafted him.

And you'd think out of all the teams he'd want to stay in Minnesota, He'll get re-signed by Florida and your not going to be able to get him by trading spar parts

It was a Russo speculation on something, he got the impression they were dangling boldy at Fenton. There was a contradicting article today that it was dumba for #12 not boldy. I’d have considered that have 2 new #1 c prospects.

12 would have been Jarvis. From what I hear, we’d be swapping skill for size. Seems like a wash but interesting nonetheless.

Anyone paying attention to gmbg’s moves can see he’s gathering a bunch of spare parts he’ll be able to flip at the trade deadline and have prospects and draft capital galore. That in mind he’ll be able to make a real run at barkov, most likely, this season or next offseason. At that point barkov or anyone will see the wild are primed to be as stacked as the avs currently are, for a significant window. Legit game breakers on 2 lines and a total shut down 3rd line with jee.

Ideally the wild will be primed to be cup contenders for about a 4 year window starting in 22/23. So they’ll want the Core to be between 21 and 26. The d core will still be solid, but we’ll have a top 6 that can keep up with anyone, jee stabilizing a defensively sound 3rd line that can frustrate anyone and a 4th line that is all energy.

If barkov or anyone else see’s that it’ll be a good place to attract talent. Just like Colorado and Vancouver are currently.

Indeed. I thought the real tell was the NMC for Brodin, 4 years. But yes, we will have assets and I have to think we compete in 2-3 years. The addition of Brackett is going to add value to each of the picks we have and build that foundation. I don’t think we’d be cup competitive until Rossi enters his prime but I really do like the forward thinking.

This is my personal opinion of the organization, but I have never been more excited for the future until Bill Guerin came along. I can honestly say I can see the direction he is going.

Barkov starts with Rossi, Boldy and a 1st. you aren't getting a top 5 C in the league without sending your top prospects back.

Okie dokie...

I have to think that’s one reason they were flipping everything at the deadline this year to move up and grab specific players. By almost any account the wild had the best draft this year. If they can leverage the current tdl guys and roster to have 2 drafts like that we’ll have several years in a row of fresh faces that are ready to compete at a high level.

With this roster, I don’t see how we leave the season with less than 2 1st round picks or equivalent prospects. Get those lotto tickets.
