Why would you pay for Johnson, you could have had him for free?

I think flyers would have to retain 50% on ghost for the bruins to take him off your hands.

to get cernak.

Johnson brings some 3C insurance if Patrick is not healthy, hes fast and can play all 3 forward positions, which PHI needs, BUT its Cernak who PHI would want: a big, crease clearer, stay at home, just 24 yrs old. Fits right in with provorov, sanheim, hagg and myers all under age 25.

Cernak and Myers on RD with provorov and Sanheim at LD makes a good defense for the next 4-5 years at least (prospects Cam York, Morin, Zamula and others will get 3rd pairing and hopefully allow PHI to deal from depth when they progress)

I think it might have a bit more to do with Cernak.

I don't think PHI will retain anywhere near that amount, theyre selling low, (that's why its picks years away).

Ghost who had horrid year, is still a nice number 3 guy, who will be a 35-45 pt number 3, its not about Ghost being a bad player, he's not, its more about whether his game fits in PHI, it doesn't, as hes behind sanheim and provorov and PHI needs a stay at home more than a puck rusher

The most recent evidence indicates hes bad. Not only that, but he’s way overpaid. Not only that, but it’s for three years. Not only that, but it’s a major money commitment in the flat cap era of a global pandemic.

Retain, or pay to get rid of him. Those are the options. Or keep him, hope he can put 25 solid games together, and then move him.

Well if we're only going off most recent evidence on Ghost then he is bad. I think in a non-flat cap Ghost isn't overpaid based on his career, in fact he got his money at the same point/age as the similar player DeAngelo in NYR with his 4.8mil.

But lets face it, even coming off his bad year, Ghost (at retained 1.5mil) 3mil would be worth a lot more than a 3rd and 4th in the 2023 draft. PHI at the moment, knows he has little value and they'd be selling low, IMO though I don't think he regains value on Philly's 3rd pairing and with the flat cap and his 4.5 they are never going to get true value for a player that has averaged 41 pts a season and is still just 27 yrs old.

Maybe BOS isn't the destination and Ghost and his current salary is a pill to swallow, especially given his last season, but IMO he will be dealt for something of mediocre value as above.
