Chance for Cirelli

Created by: Revans292
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 20, 2020
Published: Oct. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is out of left field, but if we can pull the Tierney Norris for Meir trade it gives us a chance at plucking Cirelli from Tampa.
This is a legit cup contender, my only issue is I don’t think Ottawa gives up 2 centers for a winger, if they will awesome if not please counter an offer, and take into account we’re looking to shed a little salary not pick up some.
If this works we’re an average age of 27.58 with marleau and 26. 87 without his age factored in, both are under last years league average! These options make us younger and better, helping open our contention window for another 3-5 years.

Why would Cirelli sign a $5.25 million offer sheet in high taxed California? He can take $4.5 million and stay in Tampa and still take home more.

Since OTT also needs to keep its centers, a Tierney + a 1st deal for Meier seems good for both teams. OTT keeps Norris as their top-6 C for the future and Sharks already would have options for Cirelli Couture Hertl Tierney Kellman Marleau for down the middle.

I like it a lot with that tweak!

It'd have to be a 6mil offer sheet from SJ. I still think they can do it.

We can already offer Cirelli a deal similar, also you’re not getting past the 2nd round with that goalie duo

At least $6 mil probably even closer to $6.5 mil for him to sign it.

He could... but Tampa has no way to actually pay him this year and I think they are hoping he signs a low bridge offer, plus sharks and San Jose is known as a great place to live and play so my fingers are crossed here.

I agree with that, though I would love Norris back I hated giving him up.

We would have to tweak things a little and maybe Sorenson has to go if we have to up the deal to 6 AAV

It's also extremely expensive to live there, He can take home more in Tampa and still live a similar lifestyle as there in Northern California plus play for a better team.

Yea I’m hoping with a lot of ready and Nabokov at the goalie coach Jones bounces back, he looked better towards the end of the season after working a lot with nabby!

maybe a future first, the pick the next couple years in the first may sill be a bit too high to move for meier. We honestly dont need him. He would be nice but we dont need wingers

This is a good team, Tampa is going to be taking a step back next year after they loose all this talent, so with sharks additions here and Tampa’s losses there even teams in my head, or a lot closer.

Who knows with goalies... they're super bipolar in their play.

I never would've believed Khudobin at 34 would be a reason the Stars had a chance to win the cup this year. A bounce-back season for both Jones and Dub after the long layoff, working with a new coach/goalie coach/system in Boogie, Nabby and getting past personal things last season with Dubs, it's reasonable to expect better play at the very least, if not a return to form.

They would not be my top 10 options for goalie had I any other options TBH but I feel both have a chance to rebound to better play, we saw both Dell and Jones play significantly better with just a little time with Nabby as their coach. Imagine with a whole offseason and all the rest. Jones will have played like 12 games in 1 calendar year by the time the new season starts.
