I think theyd have to send Gaudreau the other way if they want Kane.

Flames would be better off pursuing Toews than Kane. Neither seem realistic though

That’s a bit much. Stan would be an idiot turning down Tkachuk for Kane if they’re truly rebuilding.

I'm sure Yzerman will not bring Lucic to Detroit.

I think Toews at 20% retained (due to it being front loaded, it only would cost the Hawks $3.16m in real dollars), should only cost a 1st, a conditional 1st based on reaching WCF (2nd otherwise) and Bennett. The Flames would also have to flip Backlund for futures and trade Rittich and sign a cheap vet like Howard for cheap. But in theory it could work.

But you will never find a Hawks fan to agree because they will always see it as a terrible trade, like we do with the Iginla deal.

Pretty sure Backlund would just be going the other way, he would be able to still shelter Dach for another year well but at the same time wouldnt block his development as a 1C.

Moot point really. Wings ate not taking on toxic Milan Lucic and his bloated contract. Yzerman on re ordering he wa ts flexibility at dead line. After signing Mantha and Bertuzzi, he might be done for a while.

Yea Detroit may not work. I feel with the current core three years of one of Toews or Kane with Salary retained could be great. Pipe dream I am sure. Luc to Sens? They don't need his Cap hit but they have a cheap roster for a few years and they are all about the draft picks. I also recognize that it is likely easier to move Ryan/Backlund/Rittich/Bennett. A dream again to not have to move any of them if possible. If something can be done and we go with zero draft picks for two years, why not. Shoot your shot?

I agree, but they will be torn between that and speeding up a rebuild.

I think going from Toews to Backlund + futures is a better option than going from Toews to Lucic + futures (doubt Looch waives anyways, might be able to convince Backs to though). If I'm the Hawks right now I see it like this; Toews is great for sheltering Dach and making sure he truly develops into a legitimate 1C right now but also blocks him from taking that next step by maybe as soon as next year. Backlund both shelters him from playing tough minutes while also not blocking his development. Lucic doesn't shelter him or block his development so then can lead to poorly development (ie. Strome in Arizona or Mittelstadt in Buffalo). Chicago might bet better futures if taking on Lucic but the development of Dach far outweighs that IMO

Really. I guess you do not know the history.

Did you forget the hand shake with the Habs and telling them he want to kill certain players.

His taking bad penalties and being suspended multiple times for dirty plays like spearing several players, especially in the groin area.

His contract and that is no where close to his production

Multiple times he has not only upset his teammates but management for the teams that he has played for in the past, like Boston LA and Edmonton

Funny but this is just a sample of the why Wings would not want any of his characteristics in a locker room of kids.

I don't know about the death threats thing, but none of that other stuff has anything to do with toxicity except your fabricated "upset his teammates and management"
