Bowman needs to trade Toews and Kane

Description
I know a lot of Blackhawk fans will get triggered over this (especially SociallyHawkward) but please hear me out on this and read this thoroughly before spamming the comments.

There's no doubt the Hawks were the NHL's dynasty in the 2010's winning three cups which was the result of a well thought and planned out 15 year rebuild and smart drafting. However the last few years, it's become very clear this core's Cup winning window is closing and it's time for a rebuild. Bowman is still one of the smartest GM's in the business and I'm sure he knows that he'll eventually have to start over and focus more on developing his younger core even at the cost of the Hawks being out of the playoffs for a year or two. The future is bright for this young Hawks team but keeping Toews and Kane around even as mentors wouldn't make any sense as both are in their prime and could easily help a Cup contending team get to the next level given their skill and leadership that won them three Cups in Chicago. Bowman will easily get huge returns for both and the Hawks will easily be a consistent playoff team for years to come.

I read what you said, and get that trading Toews and Kane makes sense for a team rebuilding - last thing I’d want to see is a rebuilding team pull a Red Wings and keep their star players (Z and Pav) when the push for the playoffs shouldn’t be happening. With that said

The rebuilding Hawks give up what I’ll assume is a lottery pick in 2023 for a Rangers 1st rounder that should be in the 20’s if not 32nd overall, just so they can get rid of Toews? It doesn’t make sense at all.

Kane isn't waiving his NMC to go home, And the Rangers can't afford to absorb Toews contract.

I somewhat agree with the theory but not if this is all that they get in return, especially for Toews

The idea of this trade is to reunite the Strome brothers and build chemistry to help the lead the way in the young core.

50/50 split for Toews is a fair deal considering Rangers are only giving up Strome's rights for him

Ya I don't understand those pick swaps, NYR improves dearly there. I think CHI will want a proper ELC for each of those players also. Rebuilds aren't a next year thing. 4 years of solid picks and grooming a handful of elite prospects, then Signing 2-3 stars in a few years time.

Bowman is not one of the smartest GM's. He traded Panarin for Zadorov. Extended Seabrook to a terrible contract, traded most of his former 1st round picks (Danault, Teravainen, Schmaltz, Hartman, Jokiharju), brought Shaw back for no reason, added over 8 million in cap trading for De Haan and Maatta the past two off-seasons, yet claimed the hawks couldn't afford Panarin (This was the first season of his new contract). He just traded Saad for a Zadorov and NO draft picks. What kind of return is that for a 'rebuild'? He let Crawford walk because he didn't wanna give him an extra year and then claims "We want to go with the young guys" as if he never offered Crawford $3.5M for a year. He has contradicted himself all season long. Lehner was right, this team isn't that far off. The dead weight Seabrook, De Haan, Smith, and Shaw are holding cost them Panarin and Crawford the past two seasons. It's plain and simple.

Assuming the Rangers' young core takes a few more years to develop, it could theoretically be a 15-20 range pick

I could understand moving Kane and toews but I would say keep kieth as a mentor would be good for the young guys especially since he has experience winning cups and all.

Rangers wouldn’t do this he’s already in his 30s and while great is too expensive for us when we need to resign our young guns and Zib in the next two years.

Dude come on... that Kane trade is just pathetic. We aren't adding anything to a retained Kane nor are we taking Okposo unless you pay us to.

Toews at 6.5 is how much Strome and Lemieux will cost. Then next year we have 10m is buyout space, 9M from JJ, buch, smith. I see no issues resigning in the future
