Though this puts the Leafs under the cap just doesn't make sense. Dermott's rights would have to be traded in a different trade. Picking up that Laine contract is only just over a million dollar difference. The only thing I really agree with is Nylander bein traded, but I would think we could see this at a deadline based on his production thought he first half of the season.

Less quantity and more quality would be needed from the Leafs.

I don't get this trading Nylander idea. They guy is on a great contract and will end up better than Laine I think. He is starting to figure it out and at times really chips in defensively and can play center if needed. Laine is also going to get a ton on his next contract. I watch both teams a lot and when Laine doesn't have the puck, he isn't doing much and his defensive positioning can be laughable at times whereas I see improvement in Willie's defensive game...yes they are small steps but there is new dedication to the defensive side of the game.

Both players are crazy talented, but make you want to reach in the TV and punch them at times.
