If Kane goes anywhere it's Buffalo. I don't think San Jose would have the cap space even if you eat half of his contract.

I thought so too but I was being conservative. Maybe 1 more good piece or conditional 1st if they go far

Only allowed 3 retentions. It's not a full rebuild. Toews and Kane are expected to be with the team all the way through it.

yeah no we aren't trading Meier...nor are we trading a 1st for a 30+ vet again. Ferraro and Timo are off limits basically.

Wowza now that's a blockbuster trade. Sharks probably decline though. Don't get me wrong - Kane is an elite talent and at 3.5M retention he's definitely worth that cap hit, but the Sharks should not be getting older, trading away high ceiling players, or any 1st rounders any time soon.

I don't think Kane makes this current 2020-21 roster a legit contender even considering how good he is. Having our 1st this year is so massively important in case we absolutely suck again and end up tanking like last year.

We've made these mistakes already, I think Wilson has learned his lesson. Don't trade young talented pieces and picks for aging stars...Timo and Mario and whatever that 1st is are staying sharks for the foreseeable future.

True! (Would have seriously helped us in that Karlsson trade...) But would Chicago really do a Kane deal if they weren't guaranteed at least a 1st?

He could easily become that. His contract is money. He’s had a 20+ goal season. Nylander is going to be cheaper sure, but will need a new contract. Add in the persona that VGK keeps sending out players they resigned to contracts....it’s just not a good look

Then you add in the age and contract for Whitecloud compared to Murphy, and WERE the ones giving a 3rd?

I would just sit tight. Zero need to make this move

I don't see the Jets giving up 2 players they need and a first for an expensive player they don't need.

I hear you. To think Winnipeg would give up 2 young players they need and a first when they have Stastny as 2C this year and Perfetti after that. A truly laughable, poorly thought out trade by the OP.

No thank you. Kane is awesome but we can’t afford to ditch a long time of Meier for three years of Kane

If I was Seattle I would take Berdin from the Jets at the expansion draft. WPG should trade him with Roslovic and the first for Toews with retained salary. Too bad we traded for Stastny.

I didn't want to pay the ludicrous prices people wanted the Jets to pay here. Getting him for nothing is fine.

So, you think that the Jets should trade an NHL ready prospect they plan on playing in the top 4 in their position of least team depth next year ,LD, to get a 32 YO center to fill a non-existent 2C hole? The 2C hole is filled for next year and the future. That is not a smart use of assets.

The core isn't going anywhere, but at least the value on the trades looks good unlike all the other hawks posts tonight. Side note: only allowed 3 retentions at a time
