And when you have to reup both of them as well as Dube, Bennett and Valimaki next year where is the $$ coming from?

Normally would consider but with Domi no longer need a center. Plus we're really big on Bjorkstrand. He's a lock for the RW1 spot. But it's a fair trade otherwise.

If your reason for moving Monahan is he is not a legitimate 1C then you are going to be greatly disappointed by Lindholm as he is not a better 1C (arguably worse). The downgrade from Monahan to Bjorkstrand here is definitely not at all worth it and I'm a fan of Bjorkstrand.

Lucic gets bought out, Ryan is not resigned and Gaudreau will be traded for prospects and draft picks. That's about $15 mil freed up rather quickly and replaced with the likes of more players like Nordstrom, Leivo to fill in the bottom 6 lines.

You’d probably want a cheaper backup too, so there’s another 1.5Mish freed up. Could also let Savard walk since you have Andersson and Tanev on the right

I’m no Monahan fan, not as a 1c anyway but wtf is this trade. This is horrible.

I like lindholm better at C than Monahan but you are right. It’s not going to cut it.

If there were some way to Johnny and mony for a true 1c it would be worth it. But it would have to be eichel or Point type of impact player. But teams don’t move players like that.

Well if Toews is pissed enough he might waive I would totally trade for him but not either of Monahan or Gaudreau (doubt they would have much interest in either anyways).

I agree, but flames wouldn’t want to give up the young prospects it would take. The picks they could deal but they just don’t have enough in the pipe right now.

Maybe, Zary and the defense are untouchable but I think with the emergence of Dube and Mangiapane, Zavgorodny and Pelletier are totally tradeable assets. Also if you win the cup it doesn't matter what you gave up to get there. Look at Tampa, they traded the equivalent of 3 1sts at the TDL for Coleman and Goodrow. I bet if you ask any bolts fan (myself included) they would still 100% do those trades since they won

Yup, I saw your agm. It certainly makes sense. For both teams actually. But only in a vacuum. You don’t just move a guy like toews after everything he has done for your organization.

Fair value- sure
Of interest to Columbus- I’d say not really
Is it going to happen- not a chance.
