Trying harder than Wilson and hopefully smarter

Description
I’m only ok giving up that 1st because next year is shaping up to be a weaker draft class with 22 looking to be stronger draft class than 2020 even. My goal as GM is simple, play for the cup 20/21 while setting up the team for the next 5 years.
To do this
#1 Merkley makes the roster this year because sharks need him to get his feet wet even though I really think he could use a year with the Cuda. We do this because...
#2 we (me if I’m GM) plan on exposing Burns in the expansion draft and we ( I ) will barter a deal with Ron to make sure he picks Burns.
As a fan I hate losing Burns and this one will hurt... but with EKG 65 (yes I said EKG since he has no heart) and Vlasic chewing up our allotted cap space for defense Burns is the only option to depart without offering a kings ransoms to take him on.
#3 we sign Strome to a 4 year deal similar to Labanc thus securing 3 players under 25 in our top 6 and signed long term.

Next year we let Dubnyk walk and Melnichuyk is our backup.
with the money we saved from Burns we set aside to give Hertl an extension For 22/23 (6yr 7.56 AAV taking him to age 33 perfect age for his contract to end)
Ferraro’s contract for 22/23 (4 year 3.5)
Donato contract (4 year 4.25)
Those 3 account for an increase of 6.85 cap hit and eat most of Burns 8 mil cap hit and that doesn’t take into account the need for a top 4 d man to compensate for Burns loss or the raises for Melnichuyk, Merkley and Meir in 23/24 or any of the kids coming up.
We have to hope for a 5-10 mil cap increase by 23/24 otherwise we will lose one of merkley or Meir unless we find a way to save some more space for our future.

What do you guys think of my Plan for now and my plans for the future.
Am i better equal or worse than Wilson???

I don't totally disagree with your line of thinking, but I really think the Sharks need to hold onto the 2021 first-rounder. They can't lose another potential lottery pick.

Also, if we give up that 1st, we better get back a better player than Dylan Strome.

Dylan Strome was almost a point a game in 18/19 ( 58 games 51 points) and (58 games 38 points) last year. He’s only 23/24 that’s worth way more than a first in a weak draft year!
I would trade him for Labanc and a 2nd tbh but having both would be good for us.
And with this team we’re in the playoffs not the lottery
