I almost wonder if they're going to go full rebuild again, and try build around Hayton, Keller, Chychrun, and Kuemper...

Yup, they blew their chance to kick start a rebuild by dumping OEL on Vancouver but got greedy and tried to get Demko/Hoglander/Podkolzin added to the deal and call OEL’s bluff on his deadline to be traded. Now they’re stuck paying for him unless he gives them another trade window, but that won’t be until least next year.

They will be a bit better with the additions but not much. They will probably miss the playoffs.

Man, I can't imagine watching my team rebuild for almost a decade, trade away most of the young players/prospects, and have to rebuild all over again with upcoming forfeited draft picks preventing them from doing so. That's a nightmare situation imo. Maybe the hockey gods will help them get Shane Wright or one of the other top center prospects in 2022/2023.

No don’t rebuild around Kuemper. He’s 30. Rebuild around your young core players and prospects. They won’t go into a rebuild, especially that it’s a flat cap, so it would be near impossible to trade people.

What additions exactly? They are already so far from the playoffs, and now that they lost those draft picks (they didn't pick until what, 93 or something thins year) they will be a dumpster fire for a good five years. I don't even see guys like Keller and Kuemper staying around for that.

They lack a true number 3 d-man as well as another offense minded player who can score up tp 20

I didn't even know of them, they're a little under-the-radar. They have 18 and 20 pts from last season. That's not adding much. They should at least have gone after a guy like Mike Hoffman.
Maybe I'm pessimistic on this gloomy Wednesday but I think this team is one of the worst teams ever.

I think it's the opposite lol; everyone in their top-4 in a number three defenseman. Someone said something similar about the Hawks last year when their top-4 was projected to be Keith, Gustafsson, De Haan and Murphy and this is very reminiscent of that

OEL and Chyrchrun is a soldi 1-2 punch. Not the best in the league, which would be Hamilton-Slavin IMO, but solid. Apart from that however, their d-core is sloppy. Hjalmarsson isn't the player he was in CHI, Goigoski is a number 4-5 at this point, Lyubushkin and Oesterle are numberr 5-6 and Demers is a number 4

They aren’t a playoff team but they certainly aren’t one of the worst teams ever. Their defense core is pretty solid (defensively at least) and they have one of the best goalies in the NHL. And while they don’t have a star forward, they have far better depth than a team like Detroit.

This team is going in the wrong direction in terms of contending, but they’re also slightly better than they were before they got Hall when they were in a playoff spot last year.

Really? Yah they needed to fill out the whole roster so they signed those guys.
