2020-21 Hoffman

Created by: Rooney
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 20, 2020
Published: Oct. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not a CBJ fan but had a hard time on who would be the odd man out between Nash, Stenlund & Robinson. I think Bemstrom could be another option due to waivers but believe he is too good to be sent down. Ultimately, I chose Robinson.

I don't disagree with you at all about the Robinson/Bemstrom/Stenlund move...but have been thinking about this for awhile now.

I am 50/50 on Hoffman, as he does put up some very good scoring numbers, and he makes quite a bit of money...but he seems to be like Duclair (who makes quite a bit less, and probably should be making more $$$ based on his production).
No team seems to want to commit to Hoffman (or Duclair).

The Jackets initially were going to take a position to let the young guns play and develop (Texier, Bemstrom, Stenlund, etc.)
I think they realized they need more experience and consistent scoring...but they couldn't land Hall, who I think was their main (and only) target.
By signing Koivu, this signifies that they probably are done in UFA signings.
The Grigorenko signing also limits spaces for others.

AGMs have moved away from slotting Foudy in the lineup for 2020-21.
Personally, if it were up to me, between the 3: Foudy would be the best option playing, followed by Bemstrom #2, and Robinson #3.

Appreciate the feedback! I figured that CBJ would end up signing one more scoring forward but honestly think it's smart to let the young guns play as well. They did add Domi, Grigorenko & Koivu like you said. The only thing I will disagree with is the Foudy move. Unless he is playing consistent 3rd line centre mins, I think starting him in the AHL as the 1C would help his development tremendously, even if it's just for the first half of the season.

Good point, I guess now that they have Domi, and Grigorenko, and Nash and Jenner, (and hopefully Dubois signed soon) they don't need to rush Foudy.

Yeah, I'd much rather take on Granlund than Hoffman for a litany of reasons. I'm thinking they move Stenlund to the AHL in preseason, before waivers kick in. And the more I think about it, the more I'm fine with Foudy and/or Bemstrom starting in the AHL, so they can get top-line minutes and really develop away from Torts and the line blender. (Also, Carlsson down to the AHL, Peeke up at 3RD and Kukan to 3LD, he's naturally left-handed.)
