I wish someone would offer sheet Tampa

Description
I think this would work if NHL GMs would actually use offer sheets. Listed picks for moving Dermott and Holl not important in this proposed scenario - although as seen with Nate Schmidt, GMs aren’t willing to help others out too much. A lot of people don’t think that it’s wise to move Dermott but in my opinion, Sadin, Liljegren, and Lehtonen all have a higher ceiling than Dermott and there is simply a log jam with the presence of Mo and Muzzin. A cap hit of $3m for cernak allows for Engvall to be moved in and out of the lineup for any player in the bottom six (I have him listed on LTIR to manipulate cap). I assume the leafs are going to run with a minimal roster for cap reasons this year. I also doubt that there is going to be an AHL season so shuffling players up and down will be very easy and creates almost no need for the leafs to carry additional players to each game. I would love to see this as Cernak is very sound defensively, a big body that hits hard, and best of all, he isn’t as important to Tampa as Sergachev or Cirelli - so he would likely be the victim of cost-cutting. Let me know what you think.

I think the fact that you have Engvall on LTIR and no real answer for where to ship Dermott and Holl shows that the leafs aren't really in the best position of offersheet anyone.
But I agree that surely someone gets offersheeted this season. Not just Tampa but the Isles are up against it too. Maybe someone has already been approached but hasn't signed? it's nuts

Let's be honest. There are many people who wish misfortune on the leafs.

Hey, I had Engvall on LTIR for the purpose of this scenario on capfriendly - not saying he would be there IRL. I'm not sure if he's waiver exempt tbh but I would likely rotate a few players in and out of the bottom 6. Agreed that it is much easier said than done moving Dermott and Holl but I'm frustrated because I don't see a real future for Dermott on this squad.

I agree, I think it's insane if the other teams let TBL keep all of their 3 RFA's. I do wonder if the players have already received one or more offer sheets and are holding out hope TBL can move Tyler Johnson and/or Palat. Again though, if I'm an opposing GM, for $5M per season would I rather have Johnson for his early 30's or Sergachev for what should be the early part of his prime years?

I looked at Tampa's capfriendly and with 17-man roster they have 3.6m in space. We've seen how little sympathy GMs have to help others so I'm super curious about how Tampa will solve this. Odds are pretty decent that Tampa will have to deal a major piece at a huge loss and then still convince one of Segachev, Cirelli, or Cernak to sign a 1-year deal near the league minimum. They can at least sell the idea of running it back to their RFAs

Engvall is waivers exempt so he could always start with the Marlies.
