This trade is definitely not possible without trading Ryan first and signing some depth contracts. Not sure what else we could add honestly possibly another prospect like Yan Kuznetsov but im pretty high on him so I dont think it would be smart.

The thing is, Toews is making $10.5M for the next 3 seasons and is already 32. That is not a bet the Flames should be making. Taking Toews is also hugely helping Chicago, as they've got $5M in cap space and $10M on the IR . No team should offer Chicago much at all for taking on Toews, in fact, a team acquiring any of Chicago's big ticket players should be asking for assets to do so.

How's this team?

Few issues, Granlund isnt signing for that low a cap hit, Petrovic wouldnt play over Kylington or possibly Mackey. Gawdin would definitely make the team and play 4C so you don't need Granlund. Perry probably doesnt sign for that cheap either. A good alternative would be Josh Leivo who would probably sign for about 1 mil. Id probably run lines like:

The issue with getting Toews is that it puts us way too close to the cap with not much room so I dont think its worth it for the Flames.
