That’s probably the fairest Kane trade I’ve seen on here.

Value is ok, but need isn't. Only reason why WPG would consider moving Laine is to fill another holes in the team but this does nothing in that regard. They gain yet another right shot wingers that isn't good at defending, which is by far their biggest weakness.

2020 value is fair but not player vs player...Laine is a 22 year old and Kane is over 30 and has 3 years left at 10.5M.

Winnipeg is supposely in the Window... for the past 3 years and can't break through... getting a 100pts guy maybe is what they need!

Have to consider that WPG and Laine haven't seen eye-to-eye on contract negotiations for a few years now. And Laine could opt for the shortest possible next contract to take him to UFA if he's not happy in WPG.

I think the value offered on this deal is something Stan Bowman accepts, subject to Kane's NMC...

But I don't think Kane waives his NMC to go to WPG. Otherwise I would bet that both GMs would take this deal. 3 years having one of the best RW in the game -- a guy who ratchets up to another level during the playoffs consistently -- would elevate WPG for 3 years, relative to keeping Laine on the roster. Kane will win you more games than Laine will over the next 3 years. After that, well, Kane is pretty old.

Kane will be 32 in November - way better value out there for Laine than that!

Why does everyone think Kane and Toews are going to fetch returns like this in their declining years with those cap hits???

Jets want 0 to do with deal.. have a declining Kane for 3 years or so and watch Laine light the lamp on the Jets for the next 15 years?!? Adding Heinola and a 2nd just makes it worse

If this is what they need to pass to the other level.. getting a star player...
and in a year Laine would fetch a big contract 9-10M a year

To be fair, Kane is a left shot not a right shot lol. But I get your point.

Since when is Kane declining? His typical year is between 80-95 points. He has hit 100+ a couple times, but those have been exceptions to the rule. Last year Kane had 84 points in a shortened season.

Personally i would rather have the jets hold onto Laine, have him light it up and trade him as an RFA. The package would be better long term for the jets and they would keep Heinola
That being said Kane is a legit superstar and trading for him would cost a package similar to this
