Description
This is what I imagine the leafs will start with. The top six is pretty self explanatory, Kerfoot is probably the 3C and him and Vesey have chemistry from college which puts Vesey as the 3LW, as for Barabanov, I think he’s a better fit on the third line then Simmonds as he can keep up with the other guys and to be honest he might even be better then Simmonds. As for the fourth line, it would be just awesome to see these three guys together on the fourth line for obvious reasons, they would be slow as hell but could be useful in a lot of different situations.
For the defence Brodie and Reilly are obvious, and although I’d rather trade Holl and have Dermott and Muzzin as a pairing it seems that Holl will be staying in the top four. The bottom pairing would be great as Dermott can easily be a top four guy and Lehtonen probably can to. Bogo will come in occasionally for certain matchups and likely sub out Lehtonen. There’s plenty of depth options at both forward and d (I could see Robertson, Korshkov, Anderson, Sandin, and Lilijgren all breaking through at some point this season) and the only issue about that will be how many we lose to waivers when the year starts. Overall this is the deepest leafs team in years and it’s something to be excited about.

Barabanov ?
An unproven player won’t start on the 3rd line IMO

Mikheyev did last year and I’ve heard a lot of really good things about Barabanov.

Mikheyev was way better than Barabanov in the KHL and Mikheyev is 6’3 not 5’10

Honestly I would not be surprised to see Simmonds on a Simmonds/Tavares/Marner Line

Kerfoot and Johnsson did just fine at 5’10 and I’m not saying Barabanov has to be Mikheyev, he’s just a solid third liner who plays a game very similar to Zach Hyman
