Initial Creation Date: Oct. 22, 2020
Published: Oct. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade Larsson, Khaira and Chaisson away to create cap room, sign a couple useful free agents and have cap space to make more moves. All 3 players have dimminished roles and are not worth their current contracts. The Larsson trade I find interesting and quite possible as it free up Edmonton's cap space and gives Vancouver a useful defenseman. Oilers can bury the last year of Baertschi's deal, and maybe give him a shot somewhere in the lineup.

I think Sheahan may realize nobody's giving him 2 million and he can resign for a fair value.

Aw hey there with the nepotism signing lol 🙄

2 x 800k for a 27yo with 7 AHL points last year?

Craziest part is he was drafted ahead of Gaudreau

The Larsson deal makes zero sense the cost savings is less then a mil this trade helps Vancouver more then the oilers, if you want cap space trade him for a pick not a bad contract close in same value and a pick
Better options left then Galchenyuk at 2mil
Sheahan signing not needed Haas is already signed and a much better option
Greene signing good depth move
Lowe is a AHL level defender at best waste of a contract he can sign a AHL deal in Barkersfield

He's one of those guys who means alot to the organization, but you never want to see on the big club. He's their captain and a leader in Bakersfield.

The Lowe signing should be an AHL deal, just unable to communicate here. I like Haas too, but Tippet seems to trust Sheahan and even Khaira more. If I had it my way this year Haas would've been more of a regular and Khaira in the press box./\

Baetschi trade saves more when you consider burying his deal. Also getting a 2nd back.

Moving Larsson for a 3rd pick and gaining the full 4 mil plus in cap space is a much better move then taking a contract back to gain a 2nd rounder

Moving Larsson is out of the picture with the Klefbom injury the right side is going to be tasked with carrying the left side and Larsson going to be a big part of that, I don’t believe they want to start Bouchard on opening night most likely he’ll get his chance second half of the season
The right side D has zero depth in the system outside Bouchard so we really only have 4 RD so we can’t afford to move anyone, most likely the season is going to be a game every other night so your going to need 4 or 5 D on each side to just get through the season.
