Kreiders NMC just kicked in so he's going absolutely nowhere, Why in the hell would Detroit want Smith back even with a 1st round pick attached to him? And St Louis doesn't have the cap to take on TDA for $4.8 mil for 2 years without moving out similar salary.

I mean its just wildly silly to trade a first just because you dont like seeing Brendan Smiths name, then leaving 10m in usable cap space to waste for this season when there is no one to use it on. Keep the first, put smith in the AHL and you still end up with a boat load of space here. Treating Kreider as a cap dump here as well is just foolish. No issues with moving Tony D tho. But you make all this space and spend assets to do so, and then do nothing with it. Whats the point?

Smith has no negative impact on their situation & the '22 draft is likely going to be one of the best ever so...

The Blues have less than zero interest in that.

Man this type of AdeA trade is really, really unwise

A 25th and 85th pick while he's still cost controlled?

No hyperbole it's looking like he's this generation's version of Phil Housley -who was so sketchy defensively that he rarely got Norris voting but stabilized with age (as most do) and poured on the points ever year- his P/60 rates so far are crazy

Young PH scored 60 yearly (much higher scoring era)

AdeA on pace for 40 last year and then 60 this year

Any GM that gets offered an elite scorer for dimes and nickels and doesn't accept, even if they have to awkwardly move around contacts, is an imbecile

It's bonkers that people think good D bad O assets are way more inherently valuable than good O bad D assets... as if Brodin is >>> DeAngelo? Please. 🙄

Yet if Brodin was offered to STL for that it'd be seen as crazy to not accept and Armst would immediately unload Sundkvist Bortuzzo etc to make room

Oh well. Simply bury him. Either way it's a no. Shedding Smith will cost less than shedding Staal, considering he's cheaper and more useful.

Yzerman still won't call the Staal trade a cap dump. He says we filled a hole that had to be filled and we got a 2nd as well. I don't know why he won't call it a cap dump maybe he thinks is disrespectful to Staal or maybe he has no plans to take on anymore trades like that. I don't think we see Detroit making any more moves until the 2nd buyout window opens.

1- You wildly overrate DeAngelo. Elite??? Good grief, man. He's had one good season, is a total nightmare defensively (so not a fit with the Blues/for Berube) and is a clubhouse cancer (so not a fit with the Blues/for Berube). And that's all before you even get to 1) our cap status, 2) our lack of need at the position & 3) a definite need to plump the prospect pool back up while the draft classes are fat and juicy.

2- No, he absolutely would not. Not even sure how you get this idea.
