If dallas is smart, they decline. Faksa is a great 3C and the way Klingberg played in the playoffs he deserves to stay.

Fair point, but how close is the trade value-wise? seems about right to me

Its pretty close imo. Not a terrible trade by any means, just dont see it ever happening.

Honestly, the value I would say is okay. Not great. If the Stars were to move Klingberg to Tor they would likely want Nylander in return. THey need scoring and playmaking up front and a guy like Kerfoot, while a solid middle 6 forward, is not really a necessity. Could be a significant blockbuster if you were to go Nylander and Sandin, for Gurianov and Klingberg.

If possible, I'd rather avoid shipping Nylander as his contract is pretty good and would then leave a big hole offensively. Ideally what the leafs need is to buy an upgrade on RHD and 3C without losing hear and now assets and remaining cap compliant.

Understandable, but as far as Cap Hit, Klingberg may be even better in that regard. You save an extra 2 million off the books and when Klingberg is up in 2 years, that flexibility to add a significant piece with cap inflation becomes a real possibility.

Glad to see appreciation for the underrated Kerfoot and the strategy of packaging up, both fantastic 👍
