such as???

Signing JJ for sure, but a buyout it better than playing him and paying him more.

some people think these are horrible:
I'm hesitant to bash the Ceci signing yet, I wanna give him a fair shake and an open mind till I see him play.
matheson is a puzzle. again I wanna see him play but some analytics say he has alot more to give.
Erod/jankowski are low risk moves.
Murray got good value in a trade.
IDK what "horrible trades" or signings he's made recently...

I would like to see Kahun back because he actually makes McCann effective as a C. However with Sully the coach still, I don't think Kahun has any interest in coming back to Pitt. It is kind of like the Ian Cole situation. Sully does have his favorites, but he also has players that he prefers to not play over lesser players, guys like Riikola, Kahun and Cole.

Lets all Pray to God he does bc we could have the worst 3rd line in Hockey history & a AHL back-up Goalie.

This team is 1- 87, 71, or 35 injury away from being the 19-20 SJS

I wouldn't go that far. Sid and Geno almost never play a full season, so it is nothing that they haven't played through before. Jarry was good last season and is better with more ice time, however when Murray's dad died and he had his concussion, DeSmith carried the net and the Pens didn't collapse. I would expect either Larmi or D'Orio to be able to handle a few back up games. In fact even without a Jarry or DeSmith injury, I'd like to see at least one of them get a game or two in the NHL, just to see what we can expect.

I think TSN said there were like 10-12 teams in on Haula. So forget that. We won't get him.

I'm not sure how anyone can consider the Ceci signing as anything other than bad.
This team has learned nothing. They deserve to lose.

This team is a Sid or Geno injury away from having Janko as our 2nd line Center & that is so sad that its funny.

This team is also a Jarry injurry away from having DeSmith & Lagace (I'd barely trust as AHL Goalies) as our Goalies in a year, U must have 2- NHL caliber Goalies bc of the compacted season coming up.

The Pens had [6] things they Had to do this off-season to be better than a 1 & Done Team :
1] Younger RH-Winger = Kappy
2] 3rd Line Center = ____________________
3] FIX 3rd Pairing = Matheson & Ceci - (Im happy with that anything is better than JJ)
4] Trade Murray - THEN - Find a 1B type Back-Up Goalie = _________________
5] Add Depth for Compacted Season = E-Rod & Janko
6] Replace Horny w/ a Top 9 Grinding Winger = _____________________

** With only half of those 6 things done, I see this team as a fringe playoff team rite now.

I assure you that if Sid or Geno goes down, McCann becomes the #2 C and he did just fine in that position last season. As I already mentioned, DeSmith did fine in 2018/2019 when Murray was out. I don't know why you think he can't handle it now. JR is going to want to have some idea as to whether or not Larmi can play in the NHL. He is an RFA after this season, so it would be good to know if he has an NHL backup or just an AHL goalie.

The last 2 interviews GMJR has done, he has said that keeping McCann at Center or at LW this yr is big bc of what they did to him last yr & moving him from 3-LW to 2C to 1-LW to 3C to 2-LW then back to 3C was part of the reason he struggled at end of yr. So Not sure if they will want to do that again?

DeSmith is a solid #3 that is able to come in & play NHL games if needed as a back-up for a lil bit. But there is a reason that he was waived and NOT 1 of all The 31 NHL teams claimed him (for free & only at $1.25m) - Its bc he is a 29yr old Career AHL Goalie. I also don't want to see Larmi until he is just crushing it in AHL for a long stretch of time.

You are right that there was a reason that DeSmith was waived, but it is not for the reason you give. DeSmith earned that contract by filling in for Murray. The only reason he was waived last fall was because he cost double what Jarry did and the Pens were against the cap. If they had the space, DeSmith would have been up last season and not Jarry. Now it worked out fine for the Pens, so JR looks good, but it was a necessity.

As for McCann I agree that he shouldn't be bounced around the line-up, but last season had so many injuries the team had no choice. Of course when the team is healthy McCann should have a permanent spot, however if Geno or Sid go down, McCann has a better chance of helping the team than Jankowski does.

I think they need to trade Pettersson for a 3C and sign a LD like Chara
