Financially compliant

Created by: aecliptic
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 22, 2020
Published: Oct. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Getting Smith off the books gets us nicely compliant. No Kravtsov and Barron to start the year so no additional bonuses to worry about.

Hey, if Boston wants to go away from Chara, screw it, let him play with Trouba. Thats a hell of a huge defensive pair.

Looks much better! Maybe small + might be needed to make the deals happen but that’s an easy discussion. Apparently Toews has said he doesn’t want to move even with a rebuild but who knows...I would be extremely happy with this line up. Next year we have shesty, gaut and lindgren to resign which is easy

Screw loyalty, lol. Just so odd how symmetrical things happened for Toews and Messier.

Adding 3 more cups to his resume would be impressive for him hahaha

I just mean, going from a dynasty where you win multiple cups, then the franchise decides they want to rebuild without giving much notice, Toews going public with how unhappy he was being blindsided by it. Messier being 31 when traded and Toews being 32 now.

Anything to make 1994 seem like it can happen again.

Oh ya I got that, but with that roster I like our chances to win at least 1 cup

Not enough to entice LA to take Smith's contract.

    Why??
Toews best days are well behind him. He is definitely not ahead of Zibanejad. Would not want him and that contract, Chicago will have to pay just to move him.
    Awlful deal for NY.
Chicago takes whatever NY thinks is fair or NY walks away fast.

Why? Because hes still one of the best 2 way forwards in the game. Reuniting him with Panarin will keep his numbers plenty good. Hes also the leader, captain and mentor this team is missing for its kids.

I was thinking, another thing the Rangers could do... which is TOTAL circumventing of the cap is to send LAF, Shesty and Kakko down to minors at season start to get rid of all their bonuses when we start the season since thats the stipulation. Then just bring them back once the line is crossed.

That would mean taking the chance to win Calder from Laf and Shesty. Probably wouldn’t go over well. And sending kakko to the minors after a full season in the N. Not only would those 3 be upset but the rest of the team likely wouldn’t be pleased as I’m sure they want a run at playoffs. It seems like this year is just a “let’s see what they can do” year. We managed to unload Staal and now just have smith finish his last year. Buy out hank for the sake of not wasting his season as a 3rd string and getting 3M in space. If we can get in the playoffs to give the kids some experience is likely the main goal for this year. And hopefully a 2nd or 3rd round if possible

What it was made for me to understand is, when the season opens, the cap has to be compliant, that doesnt mean it has to be compliant the entire time. Lets say season opens Jan 1st. Rangers send the 3 "down" on Dec 29th. Rangers first game is on Jan 3rd or whatever. The 3 get recalled on Jan 2nd. This keeps them compliant at season start, without having to give anything away.

    🤔🤔🤔

That would be excellent if it is in fact the case.

NYR doesnt wish to pay Strome 4.5 -5 mil...
You think they will pay 7.5 for an aging and declining star.
Only screws up all future contracts with youngsters...
Lol paying Toews 7.5... too funny....

    Strome cant hold Toews jock.

How is it, that a declining player, who is a year removed from putting up career highs in goals and assists... and was on pace for putting up another one of his better point producing years so worthless. That just makes me laugh. Secondly, Toews, throughout his career, has never been relied on to be a huge point producer. Hes there to be the glue, the leader.

I can almost guarantee if Toews came to the Rangers, theyd be in the cup finals in one of those last 2 years of his contract.

    Again no thanks...
7.5 for 32 yr old glue guy.... sure way to cripple a bright future...

    Last years stats...
    STROME 70 GP. 18 G 41 A. +21
    TOEWS 70 GP. 19 G. 41 A. -2

with a 7 mil difference last season.
Never said Strome was better than, only NY does not see him worth 5 mil long term, how does 7.5 for a guy 5 years older make any sense??

    Peddle Toews cheaper or elsewhere...
You've reached point where Chi is paying to unload him, not like hes some missing piece to build around.

Youre taking Stromes stats seriously? The guy is a career 40-45pt player, you cant tell me that you think Panarin didnt carry him to the best pay day he will ever have.

Secondly youre not crippling anything for the future, if anything youre supporting it by having someone like him on your team. You make it sound like weve got a fortune of centers in the pipeline. Theres a 20yr old Chytil that still has lots of holes in his game and so much to learn and Morgan Barron whos probably a year or 2 out anyway. Thats it.

Toews will be lucky to be a 45 point guy rest of his career.
No, I dont love Strome, but definitely the better choice between the two.
Toews is declining, getting slower in a faster game.
Get over it.... Toews is not the answer in NY.

Well unless Chicago pays %50 of salary and drop the 1st round pick.
Honestly , Chicago be fortunate to receive just Strome for Toews. Sorry but they are same player these days and with a still smaller cap hit.
