Isles 2020-21 - Cap Dump Mania

Created by: slapshot723
Team: 2020-21 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 20, 2020
Published: Oct. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
DET-NYI Trade
Red Wings take on Boychuk's contract and get a project NHLer, a 2nd round LHD prospect, a 2022 2nd round pick, and a 2021 4th round pick. Isles get cap space and a reserve RHD.

ANA-NYI Trade
Ducks get a bottom-6 forward, a forward prospect with some NHL experience, and a 4th round pick. Isles get a reserve forward and some cap space.

ARI-NYI Trade
Coyotes take on Ladd's contract, get a top-4 RHD on a cheap contract (Mayfield would be a good fit with Chychrun), a high potential LW prospect, and a 2021 3rd round pick, and move on from a struggling player. Isles get a guy who can replace Toews for one year on an expiring contract and save some cap space.

Isles bring back Matt Martin and Andy Greene, sign Erik Haula and Cory Schneider, and re-sign RFAs Mat Barzal (bridge deal) and Ryan Pulock (long-term deal).

I like Boychuk as a player but if the Wings are taking him on I’d ask for a first round pick or Holmstrom as a base with a second rounder.

Boychuk wilk cost you more than that. Sorry. He is on a two year contract at 6 million a year. And the pieces you are giving up are not an incentive to take on that deal. Dal Colle is 24 going on 25 with a whopping 17 points of 3 seasons and 81 games. Dali is a 22 your defenseman who has never played on a smaller ice surface and the pick is two years off.

Sorry but as the time gets closer to the start of the season so does the price.

Rowney is a better player than Komarov and costs more than 50% less, so in addition to being a cap dump, Komarov is an on-ice downgrade. If we're taking Komarov off your hands, we'll give you a sixth for him, Koivula and a 2021 third.
