Actually no he hasn't. Ovechkin has

My bad that's correct he's 2nd , long and short of it Kane's is a fantastic player with an amazing resume the problem with moving him is he is on the wrong side of 30 at 10+ per year, personally I do not think the Hawks should be entering a Re-build without getting a blessing from the 3 players who literally brought success and pride back to the organization, if Bowman is going re build there's 0 point in half a**ing it whole a** that build and move on from Toews, Kane and Kieth unless they want to be part of it as with those 3 and add a real goalie there in the mix for another run

I mean I'd be down with trading them WITH retention and picking up prospects and draft picks. And then resign them in 3 years when we are ready to compete again and their contracts are over.

If I'm completely honest Hawk fans have had a decade of rightfully running their mouths - with Bowman still at the helm and the confusing approach he's taking there's the envious part of me that can't wait to see this season come crashi g down

Even with a couple million retention there aren't many teams that are a Kane or Toews away from cup contention that could afford the 8-9 million price tag - any of those teams have their own Toews or Kane already

I feel like Kane would be a great player to trade with 50% retention (I know the owners won't want that) but the return would be huge and help quickly allow us to rebuild and then by the time we are ready to compete, we just resign him which I'm sure he'd be down with.

Toews can stay to mentor the youth to prepare for the next dynasty lol

I didn't say he was old... I just said his age

Lol what?

You didn't respond to how I said that in the past two years he ranks 2nd in scoring, has a 2nd place Lindsay vote, 3rd place art ross

Also by that logic Matthews' contract is not tradable because he's making more than Kane even though he hasn't been as productive

Man, you really don't know how to read do you? I said she because he's over 30 and contract expiring in a few seasons at which he's making $10.5M. So she wasn't the only factor.

I also never commented on how good he was. Never denied that he's good. Just said (again you need to read) that no one is giving up 3 top 8 picks for a guy that's contract is short and is making that much.

& classic Hawks fan, always has to go back to chirping the Leafs or their players when they weren't even mentioned in the conversation or thread. Lmao. Difference in Matthews and Kane is age, contract length and position. Centre's are more valuable than wingers (sorry to break your hear, Matthews has more value than Kane). Not saying he'd be an easy player to move if he was moved, but he gets a better return than Kane any day

It’s not chirpping the Leafs. It’s just a very good comparable to this situation as it is rumored that he wants to go back to Arizona. So if you have Matthews for three years at his cap hit (I know it’s 4 years but if it were 3 years) and he isn’t going to resign then what makes Kane’s contract less valuable. Age doesn’t matter because chances are they are going to be comparables over the next three years.

"Age doesn't matter" .... Lmao, what? Absolutely it does.

It was never rumoured that Matthews wanted to go to Arizona. The media just make that connection because he grew up there and it was his childhood team. Not all players want to play for their hometown team. Did Toews? Kane? Crosby? Pietrangelo? Brodeur? ... don't believe everything the media says.

& wherever you like it or not, Matthews and Kane aren't comparables. Matthews > Kane. Sorry bud.

Lol if you say so but Kane has been significantly outscoring Matthews for years until this year.

It’s hilarious how Leafs fans give Tavares the benefit of the doubt despite having a pretty bad season for his atrocious contract. Yet that doesn’t apply to Kane even though he’s had twice the career that Tavares has had and is still producing at a much higher rate despite being a little older

Lol. Again mentioning a Leaf that wasn't involved in the conversation. Classic Hawks fan. Have to result to insulting a Leaf to justify their argument. For the record, I agree that the Tavares contract isn't great. Saying it's "atrocious" is hilarious though! Not sure how much you know about hockey if that's what you think.

But I look forward to hearing about the Marner contract next. Maybe Nylander? Maybe Rielly? Maybe Muzzin? .. who's next?

Tavares is an 80 point player making 11M

Kane is a 100 point player making 10.5 (and being offered with retention)

Matthews is a 100 point player making 11.7

Marner is a 95 point player making 10.9

How do you figure that Kane is the worse contract? He’s producing either the same or more than all of those players and makes less money, yet he’s got the worst contract even though there’s a lot of comments where Hawks fans are offerring 5.25M in retention.

Okay seriously, learn how to read before you respond. I never once said he had the worse contract of any of those players. You just keep spitting shiit outta your mouth and putting words in mine. Goodbye.

Leafs don't have a single "horrible contract". Sorry you have to resort to chirping other teams to make up for how bad your team is.

Says the guy that’s spammed every trade between the Hawks and any other team not named Toronto to inform everyone that the guy scoring 100+ points is worthless

Also, you typically don’t talk **** about the team of the decade. That’s high honors

Where did you learn to read? Never called Kane worthless lmao.

Team of the decade. Lmao. They were the team of half the decade, Pittsburgh was the team of the decade. Not the Hawks. That's the best joke I've heard.

I don’t know who to believe ryminister27 or the voters for NHL.com. By the way does your name represent your hobby?
