I don’t hate it except I hate the Lines. Zucker was a disaster last year when he played with Malkin. And played well with Crosby. Guentzel/Malkin/Rust line has always been great. I don’t understand why everyone on here wants to change it up.

I would go with Zucker/Crosby/Kappy still. And Hertl/Malkin/Rust. And then stick with McCann/Janko/Rodrigues and Tanev/Blueger/Sceviour(until Z.A.R is healthy and back in the line-up).

And then Dumoulin/Karlsson, Pettersson/Marino and PO Joseph/Ceci,Ruthwedel platoon and Riikola still as depth.

And I like the Cap space. I just also think if Matheson has 10-15 goals and 26-30 points Seattle is gonna take him in the draft.

Obviously we are protecting Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Rust, Kappy, Zucker, McCann. And Letang, Dumoulin, and Petersson and J.Marino is exempt for not being in his 3rd year.

And that leaves Blueger(A RFA w/ arbitration rights, so that cap number for him is gonna go up for a 4th line Center) and Tanev(a 30 year old, 3.5M a year, 4th line energy player), and Matheson( a 26 year old offensive defensemen).

And you can only protect one goalie so they literally have their pick of anyone’s back-up goalie. So Casey DeSmith isn’t an option unless he pulls a T.Jarry this year. This is the worst year to route for your back-up goalie to have a good year.
