a) you can't hold a 26 man roster, limited to 23
b) getting rid of Zucker is a terrible idea, guy is consistent, and will produce with Crosby at a fixed salary.

He's not amazing he's good. He's a 500,000 cheaper, or a 1mill cheaper. I'd rather get the way better player in Hoffman

Why do you suggest Sam P will be amazing and also able to play 1LW asap: his junior scoring rates so far have just been good & he's yet to hit 100 pts in the Q

Hoffman is a sniper and nothing more. Whisch has value overall don't get me wrong. But I'll take Zucker over him all day

Agree its too much to expect that Poulin could perform on 1st line duties on a team that needs to win yesterday

I'll let the stats do the talking:

https://www.nhl.com/player/jason-zucker-8475722

Zucker also played with Crosby making him look better

For a few games sure. Otherwise on a weak Wild team. Hoff likely played with huberdeau barkov last couple years and karlsson and stone before that. Cant drive play as well. And is a few years older

Of Hoffman’s 59 points in 2019-20, 21 were on the powerplay. That’s 36%. Over 1/3. Take away the powerplay where most of his elite shooting comes from and he isn’t much good offensively. If you look at heat maps he literally shoots from the exact same spot every time.

Ovi shoots from the same exact spot (almost) and he's considered one of if not the best goal scorer of all time

Prime Ovi didn’t shoot from just one stop. Ovi today mainly does yea but he also has a much better shoot than Hoffman and is better all around the ice then a guy like Hoffman.

comparing Ovi to Hoffman is quite the hill to die on, considering Ovi actually scores from the same spot at a 40-50 goal per season pace whereas Hoffman doesn't.

unless your point was "shooting" and not "scoring".. but that doesn't lend any weight to a statement, bringing to question, why say it?

They said (and I quote) "If you look at heat maps he literally shoots from the exact same spot every time". So I compared it to Ovi

so your comparison is he shoots from the same spot with significantly less efficiency or accuracy.

quality contribution right there!

Hoffman is a one dimensional player....

And u are using a lower year for Zucker and 15 games between Malkin and a Crosby line. And on the Malkin line was horrible(no goals, and I think zero points too). why I want to scream when people on here want to put Guentzel on the 1st line and break-up a great line in Guentzel/Malkin/Rust. But anyways, your comparison would probably be better using both of their best years. Saying this is the best they proved they can do. And I’m sure Hoffman’s best year is still a lot above Zuckers in terms of scoring. And if Hoffman’s best year was last. I would say The “Zucker case” might have a Actually have a case then. Cause you don’t want to buy high in/on anything.
