The average team takes and draws about 250 penalties a year, this team is projected to take about 180 and draw 320 for a +/- of +140 by far the best margin in league history which would be about 70 penalties / 140 minutes more on the PP and less on the PK resulting in about 30 more goals onto their goal differential with PP/PK efficiency around 20/80%

Presupposing this roster is ~ equal to last year's overall they'd win about 10 more games this season due to vastly improved penalty differential alone

What inspired this was EKane being so so bad at it

Haas has got the best penalty differential on the Oilers and is 2nd in the league to Tyson Jost.

I think you're right in theory, but the issue is that ref's probably incorrectly assess that teams take roughly the same amounts of penalites. How many off-setting ones do we see for varying degrees of rule breaking? Does Team A not almost always get a cheap penalty back after Team B goes on the power play two times in a few minutes?

Sadly, I think refereeing will prevent any team from taking advantage of what should otherwise be a market inefficiency in penalty differential.

On top of that comes the other side of penalties - making sure you can convert on the power play. I'm not sure how the roster, as is, does with regards to penalties, but I'd tune them about equally towards power play as I'd do penalty diff!

Thankfully Kane is never coming back to Winnipeg, would never trade Ehlers for him either.

That’s a hard no from COL, Kadri is their 2C and Newhook isn’t ready
