Gosh, Makar scored at a better rate this year than almost everyone on the list, why 13th in Corey's eyes?

Stutzle, Perfetti (And Thomas for that matter...) making the list over Zegras makes me think that Pronman might have been sipping too much of the 2020 Kool-Aid when he made this list. Projecting Byfield over Heiskanen and Makar blows my mind as well.

My critique:
He is allowed his opinion on projections, and I'm sure this is consistent with his rankings over the years and observations he has made since then, because CP is pretty meticulous. I mean, the dude ranked 155 players from 4 drafts, where the players haven't even had much time, if any, in the NHL to be on display. Tall task.

I think he has McAvoy and Fox too low (24 and 26); these guys are already no.1 d-men in my book. He has them lower than Sergachev.

Laine #7 seems like too much love - important to have snipers but is he really more effective than these other guys?

Turcotte is down at #89 - that's a lot of people jumping a guy that I thought could go in the top-3 of that draft. I didn't think LA needed to be concerned but he seems to think so.

I actually think Heiskanen, Dahlin, Makar and Hughes are all pretty close. They could all be in contention just below Pettersson and Matthews, who are the standout players to me.

Anyways, Nico Hischier about to have one of the best, yet most most quiet careers out of any top5 pick in the last few years.

Yep he's got Nico at #21 which is probably due to some overhype on some 2020 guys at this point.

tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy Yayaya, I know...Do you think he ends up as a center or winger long term? Those faceoff numbers are scary (Though he's only 21).

Hughes has one season of looking garbage compared to Hischier on his resume - so I guess we're really evaluating tools here when Hischier puts it together than most in recent drafts. Glad to know he's at least in the vicinity.

By the end of the year, he was pretty much full time at center, pushing Schenn or Bozak off to the wings depending on where he slotted in. I'd say at this point the 2C is his, but no harm in running him on a line with another guy that can play C. The faceoffs might improve - ROR spends time after practice working with the younger guys on skill stuff, I hope he can rub off some of his magic.

For sure, I think when you look at his list and he's got guys like J Hughes/Kakko/Sergachev so high, he isn't accounting for NHL impacts, just straight looking at the tools/evolution of the player. Which is a fair approach IMO when you've gotta look at guys from 2019 and 2020 drafts that haven't played a single minute yet.

Sure, but it's also kind of perpetuating the idea that the flashies shots, slickest passes or highest skating speeds will rule the NHL for years to come. You'd never find you Bergeron's or Couturier's on a list like that for example.

It's kind of a weird list to make in the first place I guess, but also exactly the type of content people love

Yeah, people love it because the uncertainty leaves tons of room for debate/hot takes. Plus he already has his rankings from every draft class... I think he just sits down one day and "shuffles the decks" if you will, so he can try to compare class to class. Not a perfect exercise, I'd much rather see a scout's opinions on guys from 2012-2016 drafts with some real data to pour through. Ex. here are the stats, here are his tools, is he effective and why/why not? But in the end, he's a scout, and Dom is the guy that provides that type of NHL player analysis for The Athletic.

I really don't think anyone takes his stuff as gospel. Maybe the really lazy people out there that just want to have evidence to back up their own opinions.

And there are soooo many people like that on here. Don’t know about a d man? Well his GAR is this and his corsi on Tuesday’s at 5 on 5 is off the charts! Don’t know about a prospect? Well this guy says he’s good so he’s good! A problem on this site is that a lot of people don’t care to think for themselves, but still want to have a very strong opinion.

He has him at #66, which is pretty good when you consider that the pool of players is from 5 drafts - that would place roughly 13 guys from each draft ahead of him. Gonna be really good value for a 25oa pick especially if he keeps improving like he has. Personally I don't think McMichael is gonna be a gamebreaker like the guys at the top of the list but he will be a good NHLer.

(Insert player he missed that I believe should be on this list here and im very angry he excluded said player from this fairy tale list)

These lists are so pointless it might as well be top 30 players based on their favorite bubble gum to chew before a mid season, away game.

Yakupov could have been 6th on one of these lists at some point to give you context.
