Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Pulock, Ryan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Philly has a couple of extra million in this scenario to give Pulock the deal he has earned, and is the type of player who would thrive on the top pairing for a long time. It is also important to note that Philly is stupid deep on the left side but bone dry on the right side, so this gives them more depth on that side.
NYI
  1. Sanheim, Travis ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The Islanders negate some of their immediate cap troubles while still getting a very solid young defenseman back in the trade.
2.
PHI
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Philly clears a little bit of cap and sells high on a player they likely won't be able to extend next season.
EDM
  1. Laughton, Scott
Additional Details:
I feel like Laughton in Edmonton is a good fit. He gives them more grit to their game and could even slot in on one of the top 2 lines with some needed speed and skill (I think he is better than Kassian and Chiasson)

Interesting basis for a trade for Laughton. I have some questions though.

Did Laughton play a lot of LW last season? Did he play with skilled guys or on a checking line only?
Also, why are his possession numbers so bad? Plays a lot against top opposition?

I don't think the Islanders would ever move their #1D in a trade for Sanheim (my mistake putting Laughton) 1 for 1. That said, if we were able to re-coop a 1st round pick in the deal with Sanheim, it would be feasible.

Seinheim is due a similar raise in a year. It really accomplishes nothing long term. I'd rather pay our guy in Pulock today (who is the superior defenseman and perfect in the Trotz system). He is also a RD (more important) and would prefer not to break up the Pelech-Pulock pairing
