I think you seriously underestimate a #1 RD's value, especially an All-Star's, if you think a mid-round first and former mid-round first who has yet to play a game in the NHL are enough to acquire Seth Jones.

I think that you and the OP are two of the very few people on CapFriendly who think that a guy who was signed as a free agent for $900,000 is worth a third-round pick.

I take that every day. You guys can have Matthews, and that first round pick has potential to become better then Matthews.

It depends upon who the "1" is. You wouldn't trade Sandin and the first for Denis Savard, would you? You don't think Sandin and a first for Victor Hedman or Alex Pietrangelo is fair, do you?

This Caps fan agrees with you on where Wilson and Panik fit into the Leafs' lineup if they want guys who can crash the net, get pucks out of corners, and score some dirty goals.

But Wilson isn't likely available without one of the big four heading back.

What do you think is the value of Panik, alone?

eta: a lot of Caps fans are happy trading him for a 3rd round pick, just for the sake of cap flexibility.
