If COL asks for both Palmieri AND Severson...they should be ready to offer Byram or Newhook.

They definitely are. With Compher and a first as well there is good quality in there. I bet NJ could do a bit better trading those guys separately though, and quite frankly I don't think Severson improves Colorado enough that Sakic would pay the price. Nothing against him as a player, it's just that he's kinda redundant in terms of what he brings.

Yeah, they are, but they would be like #8 to #10 in NJD pipeline.

Why not offer Bowen Byram or Alex Newhook?

Byram and Newhook are pretty much untouchable. Colorado is unlikely to be picking high in the draft for quite some time, and they'll need those two to be the cornerstones of the next wave. We can have fun trading them on this site, but it's just not realistic (imo). More likely (again imo) is that Severson is dropped from the conversation and the teams talk about Palmieri.

This is just patently false. Corey Pronman has Byram has the 31st best prospect and Newhook as the 53rd LEAGUE WIDE. Granted, Hughes, Hischier, and Holtz are rated higher, but let's not try to pull this #8 or #10 crap.
