I think the Sabres make this deal. They save 3.65 million in cash and get an upgrade at backup goalie and left shot d that can play on the third pair.

@dzmets They could get more for Montour and Thompson. Montour is a top 4 RD which are premiums in the NHL. Thompson was a 1st rounder a few years ago. Could get a lot more

Sharks decline, the way Marcus is playing in Sweden and he’s in a contract year he is worth keeping. Demers is not who he once was

He’s not a borderline dump, he’s still a very serviceable 3rd pair guy. Maybe not half retention but coyotes could eat a bit of the contract

A Sabres fan on here told me that Montour is “grossly miscast in Buffalo and everyone in the league knows it”. So they get rid of a guy who doesn’t fit on the team, get a real goalie, fill a need with 3rd pair LD, and shed $3.65 mil.

I still like his play but at 4 mil he is a cap dump
