He's 32 this year. he's clearly heading down the wrong side and you are coughing up a solid player and 2 1st round picks. I mean the Okposo cap hit is bad but it's not that bad.

Not getting Kane, but the package would be Cozens+Okoposo+Reinhart or Oloffson+top 10 protected 1st

So basically we are taking Okposo for 8.5M for three years. Not that bad? That’s going to cost Reinhart and two 1sts by itself. So we are trading Kane for Mittelstadt.

The Sabres will not be trading Okposo this year. No one will be willing to take on that money without being grossly overpaid to do it. The longer they hang onto him the easier he would be to move if they decide to. I think they could convince Seattle to take on a 2 year deal for a lot less than they have to pay someone to take on three years. They would have to give up an extra draft pick, but certainly not a first rounder.
