Not sure I'd call that "help" and I know for a fact you guys won't trade Petry right after you just extended him. Quality+FIt>Quantity, especially for high value players.
Edit: I don't think Montreal has the type of pieces we'd be looking for in a Laine trade. If we're trading Laine I think we need a player in return that is similar: i.e. Good, young, and high potential/locked up long term on a steal of a contract. The only players I can see on this roster that could fit the bill are Suzuki and Kotkaniemi.

This trade doesnt work but if WPG can sign Hoffy, and trade laine for top pair RHD + a first + winger prospect with upside i think they would be wise to do that
