I'll be surprised if they can roll with 21 man roster but since their affiliate plays so near their main team I guess it's possible.

Dubas has said they might go with a 20-21 man roster some nights. So yes, having the Marlies play in Toronto plays a roll with that. Especially if there is an all Canadian division next year. IMO the lines would go
Hyman Matthews Marner
Nylander Tavares Mikheyev
Vessey Kerfoot Barabanov
Simmonds Thornton Spezza

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Lehtonen Dermott

Although I think Kerfoot and Holl gets traded before the season starts. IMO they still want to find a quality partner for Muzzin now.

I have essentially the same lineup, but Holl is a good partner for Muzz

20-21 man roster was the plan last year but literally the ENTIRE season we had at least 1 major playor injured, be it hyman, mikheyev, marner, Tavares, Reilly, Muzzin, Ceci etc. etc.

Hopefully that doesn't happen again but in all likelihood there could be an injury that we put on LTIR and then we aren't pressed against the cap

Yes Holl looks great with Muzzin but imagine Muzzin with an actual quality D partner. Holl belongs on the third pair but I see Dermott, Lehtonen, Bogo, Sandin there

Are any of those 4 a better option than Holl? If so and you can move Holl or use him to upgrade his spot then move him

There are definitely better defensemen, however i don't think we will find it on the free agency market at this point, and kerfoot+holl doesnt hold enough value for a impact top 4 defensemen. The only trade my friends are possibly interested in is for Weegar, however keroot and holl doesnt make that happen, and Weegar is essentially just Holl2.0 just a couple years younger and 1~1.5 extra seasons under his belt.

And if we trade kerfoot we are relying on Thornton or Spezza who are getting up there in age, or Engvall who is not proven he can handel 3C, 4C maybe, but not 3C i dont think

I definitely disagree with Weegar being a Holl 2.0
He finished last season with seven goals and 11 assists in 45 games and had 76 hits and 71 blocked shots. He’s a good passer, he’s improved his skating, and he’s an effective puck-mover on breakouts and in transition. He was one of their top penalty-killers.
Weegar saw his minutes jump from 16:58 per game in 2018-19 to 20:07 this past season while playing with Aaron Ekblad on the Panthers’ top pairing. Their numbers together were impressive -- in 560 minutes together at 5-on-5, the Panthers had 58.3% of goals, 56.2% of shots, 55.4% of shot attempts, and 54.1% of expected goals. Pairing him with Muzzin would give the Leafs a sick top 4.

I’d also take Murphy if available.

of course they can. All the callups are waiver exempt so they can callup and send down Barabanov, Korskov, Robertson, Sandin, Liljegren, Lehtonen, J Anderson, etc.

he will be on the taxi squad and will be called up and down like a lot of players. Leafs will manage their cap on a daily basis. Since most players are waiver exempt the Leafs will be doing paper transactions and sending players down on off days and up on game days. Cap space accumulates daily so the Leafs can turn $20,000 into 1-2M by trade deadline.

was he hurt when he was playing with Hedman and winning the cup? Everyone dies in Buffalo, like at Ryan O'Reilly. His career almost ended in BUF now hes a stanley cup winner and was a finalist for an award this season.

I dont see how Jumbo and Spezza can play on the same line. I think Kerfoot for Jumbo will be playing LW

thats why the depth now built into the roster is so important. Leafs have lots of waiver exempt players they can move around.

Yes he won the cup playing 16 minutes a night and 2 games in the final series, so yes he must have been hurt. Playing with Hedman, how much did he play play with Hedman?????
