Tampa should decline the TOR and NYR trades. Just trade Killorn and keep Stamkos because you save like 3.5M that way. You could get more for Sergachev. A 1st rounder and a prospect at least

Tampa laughs in Toronto’s face. If they were both at the same cap hit Tampa would still laugh at this deal let alone adding assets.

Even if you want to say Stammer is better, which I might be ok with (though I think its close), and that he makes less money, he is far more injury prone, so for that reason, I'm out.

No freaking way Tampa does Tavares for Stakos and Killorn defeats the purpose of moving both to begin with. If Brisebois could move Stamkos, Killorn and Johnson then there's no reason to deal Sergachev.

I like the outside the box thinking with the TOR trade, but I dont think JT wants to leave.

Also, this does nothing to address any needs for Toronto, as it just adds more to our payroll and doesnt improve the Defence. Leafs would be interested in cernak...

Yes, he can move Stamkos and killorn because they agree to waive there and he can't just get rid of 13 million without taking anything back. Tavares keeps the team elite.

The scenario and money have to work for all teams, you can't just say oh, well let's move these guys and keep sergachev

Doesn't matter because Tavares isn't leaving Toronto and Stamkos isn't leaving Tampa. And fat chance of Johnson waiving for Ottawa yeah i know the Sens will be an up and coming team in 3-4 years but they're not there yet. And i doubt the Rangers can afford Sergachev they will need to move out both Strome and TDA need to remember they've $3.95M in bonuses to pay out as well.

Tavares is going to fall off next year. Hard. Stamkos was always better anyways. Cheaper too. Toronto should be adding. Significantly.

Tampa doesn't, Sergachev is worth more then a late teens early twenty's 1st round pick.

I don’t think we’ll be as good as that. Rangers could offer much more but Tampa lacks leverage.

They lack leverage as far as Johnson, Killorn, Gourde and Palat are concerned. But not Cirelli or Sergachev.

Maybe because i'm a realist, Honesty tell me how it benefits Tampa by gaining Tavares while losing Stamkos, Killorn, Johnson and Sergachev?l

Thats the whole point is they dont have leverage with players that are logjamming the cap because they have no trade clauses. Its not like these guys are kicking down managements door to waive them.

For example, why would TJ waive to go to Ottawa? Hell, they waived the guy and not a single team cared. No one feels bad for Tampa.

Its not IMpossible, but theyd have to find a suitor for Smith without retaining any $ and a equal to or below 4.5m contract for Strome. The secondary problem here is it adds another player for the Rangers to protect.

Yup no matter how you look at it Tampa is screwed, Like to see Brisebois wiggle his way out of this. Without possibly losing 2 of Cernak, Cirelli or Sergachev.

Value wise the leafs do that trade every day of the week. Factoring in the cap i still think we do it. Factoring in the fact that JT wouldn't accept a trade out of Toronto it would never get done. Tampa would be dumb to offer the trade. Taking Tavares back at a higher salary than Stamkos while providing about equal value means they areonly really saving a couple million on the cap while also throwing in a second round pick. If they think internally that his injury problems are going to be a constant thing every year maybe they entertain trading him in this type of deal but no way JT will want to leave. I think if you put Sergachev on the market, even with teams knowing Tamps is cap crunched and has less leverage in trades they could get a lot more for him than that. Perfect age talent level and the fact that he can play either side makes him an extremely valuable asset. With Mcdonaugh and Hedman entering there early 30s, they should look to lock up both of Sergachev and Cernak to long deals.

Yeah tell me about it, Pretty pathetic when a 79 point Ranger team winds up with Lafreniere making Gary Bettman the laughing stock of the NHL.

That's true between what Tampa is going to have to surrender just to keep Cernak, Cirelli and Sergachev plus next years expansion draft. Tampa will definitely be a different team good thing they won the cup this year. Their window could be closing sooner rather then later.
