Tampa use Yzerman

Description
Yzerman might like to have Sergachev back..? I don't know what the returns would be here in terms of picks but I think Detroit would love Sergachev and they have space for Johnson now and could buy him out down the line closer to the end of the deal. Ideally they would take the whole contract obviously. I think New Jersey would like Gourde, they have a little space and have been under performing. Contract is a bit hefty, I think my ask is a bit high but he is a winner now too. I didn't mess with the depth options as I am not familiar with Tampa's depth players but you could certainly make moves to get the bottom lines the way you want. I added a few options off the top of my head, stuck them in LTIR.

I know Gourde had a good playoffs but I'm still not convinced there's too many teams that are going to pay anything for him.

Especially not a top prospect.

A more realistic trade would be Gourde + Cal Foote for NJD's 3rd round pick.

As a Detroit fan I'd take that trade. I'm pretty sure this is something TB wouldn't do and how do you get Johnson to waive for Detroit?

Exactly and why would NJ want to partially reverse the Coleman trade for Gourde who at his age doesn't really fit into what the Devils are building, this makes zero sense from NJ's perspective imo.

He might for one season for Yzerman, And if Yzerman can deal him to Seattle next summer even if we have to add a semi sweetener to the deal. It would make it worth while.

Yzerman.

If he does waive for Detroit it would be because of Yzerman. I'm just not sure Yzerman has that much influence with Johnson. I could see a coach being able to get a player to follow him to a rebuilding team but you pretty much see your coach every day.

If Yzerman and Johnson have that good of a relationship to get him to waive for Detroit I'm not sure he turns around and sends him to an expansion team.

Yeah it's not like with the tons of salary cap we've down the road that we can't afford to hang on to Johnson, He'd be a nice mentor to the kids if he were to get dealt to Detroit pretty sure he just plays out his contract there.

Giving Sergachev to Detroit for practically nothing is... doing Tampa a favor?

I could be wrong but I think the waiver priority is still based on last seasons results, therefore, Detroit could pick TJ on waivers so maybe a condition in a Sergachev deal could be worked out. I’m not sure if that’s legal but it definitely could be used if TJ doesn’t want to willingly come to Detroit in some way I’m sure. If this deal was offered I’d take it all day from Detroit.

SERG going nowhere.. TJ to Detroit with a 2nd and a prospect that Yzerman likes for a "bag of pucks" is still in Detroits best interest in 2/3 years from now .. and TJ will go to ANY NHL team now .. he will never play for Tampa again .. cant understand why people don't get that...
