Ottawa declines. They're pretty loaded up with prospects and the TBL pick is for sure in the mid 20s or later.
If VAN is not taking Zaitsev back in the deal, or upping it to the TBL + VAN 2021 1st round picks, Ottawa isn't touching him.

The Van pick top 3 protected and even lose the 2nd add a 4th instead. Johnson isn't Eriksson lol, so they will have to trade something for him.

I disagree, it's worth touching. Especially considering Eriksson is only owed 1m this year and 4 next. Sure they're loaded but another asset is another weapon to leverage. You don't refuse because you have too many assets

I did suggest it would need to be the TBL 1st + the VAN 1st, so I'm not against taking back picks... I just want it to be fair value and since NO ONE ELSE is going to touch Eriksson, VAN can either keep him or pay what is being asked. For me, a late 1st and late 2nd is not enough. But I truly feel the deal should involve Zaitsev.

Zaitsev's contract is even worse than Eriksson's. Loui has two more years with only $5 million of real money owed. He can play a legit 3rd line winger and kill penalties quite well. He's still servicable, but at $6 million AAV it's a ridiculous cap hit. NZ has four more years at $18 million of real money. He's a 3rd pairing D-man at best...AT BEST! In this case, I would say that given Ottawa's lousy financial situation, they may need to take Loui and include one of their prospects in order for Vancouver to take on this boat anchor of a deal.

Tj was put on waivers and NO ONE TOOK him, for free, TBL will have to PAY to move him.

Cool by me. You guys can keep him. Ottawa isn't touching that offer though.

But if it involves Zaitsev, the Canucks don't really have any motivation to do that. Saving 1.5 mil off the cap isn't enough for them and definitely not enough to warrant any sweetener that would be worth the trade

The Canucks will never give up another 1st round pick as they did in 2019 off season. Been there, done that. They couldn't pick til the 3rd round this season. JT Miller worked out but it was still a huge mistake to overpay when Tampa was in a corner ly.
