We allowed Calgary to overpay Markstrom and Tanev. Stecher is overrated and is nothing more than a #6 guy.

Schmidt is a much better defenseman vs. Tanev - solves the most urgent need from last year of being desperate for a true top pair defenseman. The Holtby - Markstrom gap should close a bit next year.

Losing leivo at this cap is rough, but then again he hardly played, and likely wont be as impactful as the pre-injured version of himself. Toffoli did nothing for the success of the team last year.

VAN is fine. The stinging of overpaying depth a few years ago still exists, but its evident we have learned from mistakes and moved on.

I view him not overspending on anyone a massive W. I'm very glad the team went with a conservative route this offseason and I really doubt they will be any worse next year.

Funny how canuck fans wanted all those guys re signed but once they go elsewhere they're washed and on bad contracts. Tanev at 4.5 looks amazing to Myers 6 , and Markstrom is above Holtby with a decent gap

the calgary flames really are the calgary canucks

oh wow so original did you think that up yourself. You and half the nucks fans in the world should maybe think of the reasons why a western conference Canadian team might be able to pick up players who played on other western conference canadian teams. Canadian teams outside of toronto already have difficulty attracting players to play here because who would want to play in freezing cold Canada with high taxes when you could play in any number of warm American cities with lower taxes. Players that have played in canada are much more likely to sign here so its only natural for the fringe guys in vancouver to agree to sign league minimums on another canadian team. as for markstrom he was arguably the most coveted goalie available on free agency and he has ties to some of the other swedish players in calgary so along with the massive paycheck it was a natural fit for him. Tanev is the only guy who Calgary really poached out of vancouver and it is likely because vancouver wouldnt pay him because they have to pay their young talent that are coming up in the league. Tanev having been in vancouver for his whole career probably didnt want o move too far from his family.

we’re kind of salty up in Canada. You guys are slowly stealing all of our teams and our free agents.

When healthy, Leivo is a true middle six winger. This is ridiculously cheap.

if it came off defensive im sorry. its just a little frustrating watching people with much worse intentions then yours try to make a joke out of the team when there is extremely valid reason why canuck players would sign in Calgary.
