BUF Trade and Granlund

Created by: bruinsdude77
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 24, 2020
Published: Oct. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Bruins can sign Mike Hoffman long-term and trade DeBrusk for an elite top-four LHD, that would be great. If not, this is a great backup plan.

Granlund playing with two former teammates could be great. Fills their need for scoring as well. If it doesn't work out, then move on.

McCabe is a similar deal. I think he's a sneaky good defenseman who can play with McAvoy, if it doesn't work then let him walk. In exchange for trading two young assets in Bjork and Lauzon also nets the Bs a good RW prospect, which is their biggest developmental need.

A nice perk - as UFA's, Granlund and McCabe are also Expansion-proof. If they work out, the Bruins know they can re-sign them. And I think they both have a good chance of panning out.

I think Buffalo says no to Bjork... someone with a little more upside and this deal goes for sure.

Buffalo says no in large part due to McCabe and Pekar, eventually, are physical players and Buffalo greatly lacks in that department.

Plus we are then short 2 LHDs

Lauzon is massive upgrade over McCabe. I know you love him for some reason but Lauzon's better. Pekar's potential is not worth Bjork imo.

Lauzon is not an upgrade over McCabe, you just under value him by a lot. He's a worse Montour, who was selected as a 2 way offensive Dman but has not lived up to scoring potential and is now trying to change his role. McCabe out plays Lauzon in the physical dept. that Lauzon is trying to adapt to

Yeah just checked the EH charts. McCabe is fine but Lauzon could be better within time. Similar to Pekar. Probably don't do this deal.

Great conversation.
I first thought no as well.
If a RHD could be moved for an equally skilled LHD, Lauzon for McCabe makes more sense.
Lauzon is signed for 2 years at only $850,000 then still an RFA.
McCabe for only one year at 2,850,000, giving cap room to sign Kahun.
Bjork does nothing for the team.
But taken this trade as written, it is an easy no, as McCabe has performed well.
