At this point pulock is untouchable and the isles do not need pionk or heinola. Subtracting pulock + beau and adding Laine + pionk makes the isles significantly worse. Isles aren’t good trade partners for the Jets.

I can understand if the jets wouldn’t do this but it also makes no sense for the isles. Pionk wouldn’t be a good fit, he’s pretty much a power play specialist

Pionk is one of the better powerplay QBs in the league but he had terrible underlying numbers at even strength. He didn’t drive play offensively and he was awful defensively.

Please review/refresh your memory on Pionk...even strength he was still a positive player, decent defensively, great offensively... playing with Kulikov at that...about 7% points better than Pulock

He was not a positive player at even strength - he was in the 25th percentile for xGF (expected goals for) and 18th percentile for xGA (expected goals against). Anything under 50 is considered below average. He was also brutal on the pk. Like I said , he was a powerplay specialist. He did play tough minutes, so maybe he can have a better impact if he’s sheltered a bit. Pulock plays tougher minutes and has much better underlying numbers, hed have more points if he didn’t play in a system that stifles offense.

Points aren’t a great way to evaluate defenseman - ristolainen puts up a decent amount of points and overall he’s been below replacement level for the past two seasons.

I'm talking underlying numbers at even strength....Pulock was at 44% and Pionk was at 51 and change...Corsi and Fenwick...Pionk's total was at 55...please read up on these 2 players...lol

Expected goals are a better indicator of performance , not Corsi.

Corsi doesn’t account for the quality of the shot , expected goals does.

So this one stat shows Pulock ahead at even strength 69-65...all other stats including the total points, Corsi, Fenwick etc all favour Pionk...so say whatever you want about Pionk not being great...the only reason that I would take Pulock over Pionk is size...no other metric

No one in the advanced stats community uses Corsi + fenwik to evaluate a defensemans impact.

Pulock is superior to pionk in almost every underlying metric at even strength. It’s really not even close - pulock is a legitimate #1 , pionk is a fringe #4 D. Nothing against him, my point was the isles would have no use for him - he wouldn’t be able to be effective in a top pairing role, which is why pulock is untouchable.

Pulock is better in terms of expected goals for, expected goals against, even strength offense , even strength defense. All stats from evolving-hockey.

Gotta love your analysis....no numbers to back up your statement but your preference...if Pionk was 6'4", he would be untouchable too...I still wouldn't trade him unless I got a good return...

Pulock : 55th percentile xGF% (expected goals for)
Pionk : : 25th percentile xGF%

Pulock: 88th percentile xGA (expected goals against)
Pionk : 18th percentile xGA

I’m not saying pionk is a bad defenseman, This season he was one of the better PP QBs but he wasn’t effective at even strength. It seems like he was given a role he couldn’t handle considering his quality of competition was in the 89th percentile and he was given top pairing minutes. Perhaps he can be be more effective in a sheltered role...

Also size doesn’t matter - Jared spurgeon had One of the the best defensive impacts in the league this season and he’s only 5’9
